Hi thankyou for looking at my post

I recently bought a new PSU from someone, as my old one made lawn mowing noises after 20 seconds when starting up my PC after taking it to this person he was convinced that it was a hardware  issue and i bought a new one well everything was fine but just after 4 months the noise has started again.

The new psu that i bought was  brand new from wholesales i dont know the brand yet but i can find out,

After Turning it off and then back on again it seems to take away the noise but it is definitely showing the symptoms of my previous PSU which ended up heating and making noises every time.

I was wondering if it could be a software related issue? Like maybe my Os is not starting up properly

research suggests that i open up and clean my PSU but i am skeptic as a power supply 3 months old in good Enviroment will need cleaning

Any help, suggestions will be appreciated thanks!!!

Where do you keep your pc? Can you see a lot of dust build up?

It would be good to know the brand and wattage, along with what else is in your case.

specs are

 AMD athlon 64 3500 + 2.2ghz

2G RAM DDR2 kingston

80GB hard drive dont know model number

Mother board not sure about model number

9600GT graphics card gigabyte

cd/dvd drive

Unfortunately that it was i know atm i will have to open my Case for others

And my PC is about 1.3 meters off the ground  and when asked from others they seem to give me the indication that my room is abit dusty but could that really effect a PSU which is 4 months old?

The sound is very loud and seems to speed up and get louder every 4 seconds or so

It'll be a dirty or worn out fan or loads of vibration.. You sure its coming from the powersupply? Generally a little compressed air or a vacume out does wonders..  While your at it check out the CPU fan. Lots of dirt and dust tends to stick to the top of the heatsink..

I'd reseat the CPU heatsink...if the psu isn't actually making the noise
