Hi,

I rebuilt my Aunty's computer in October. New mobo, CPU, everything.

For the last few days, there had been a horrible noise from a fan. Yesterday, she boots up and gets no noise, but a message on POST "CPU fan error, F1 to resume". We are worried about going past there.

I am going to have a look tomorrow, and if the fan has stopped working, I will be replacing it. However, I am unable to find just a fan, only heatsink & fan combos. Is it possible to get just the fan?

It is an AMD Sempron LE-1200 2.1Ghz, Socket AM2.

This is what I am looking at: http://www.computerstore.co.nz/ASUK8A4-8SB3.aspx would this be ideal? Also, does it come with thermal paste pre-applied? If not, which of the tubes of paste from that store would suit?

Problem solved, the internal wires had moved somehow, and were jamming the fan.
