Hi

Been looking at a 24" LCD monitor for a girlfriend. It is mainly for surfing the web, wordprocessing and watching the occasionally downloaded movies (probably non HD movies). The most popular model on pricespy seems to be the Samsung VX2433wm - 1920x1080 24" ~$320. I would think she would benefit from the extra 120 pixels (10% more realestate) for vertical scrolling of websites. Can anyone suggest which 1920x1200 model she should buy. She probably isn't savy enough to notice the difference between TFT and IPS etc, so just a low end monitor that is not crappy would be perfect for her. She might end up getting the VX2433wm because it seems so cheap, but 1920x1200 recommendations would be much appreciated!

Thanks

If you want to stick to the TN price bracket the samsung 2443 is pretty decent. It comes with every kind of adjustment you'd want and has USB ports and is one of the better TNs out there. If she decides picture quality is worth a little extra the HP ZR24 is definitely worth an extra $150 or so.

I bought the Samsung 2443 a few months ago. Brilliant monitor. Vertical tilting stand. Great contrast and very little patching for an LCD. The colour temp changes slightly depending on vertical viewing angle. I think the 1200 was a much better choice than the 1080. I can put two web pages or documents side by side quite easily.

I'm running a couple of ViewSonic VX2433wm - they work really well.
