Just got to my inlaws, sat down to use pc and find that i get the following error on chrome : chrome error

So at first i asumed the wifi had droped out, but no conection is fine.
No problems browsing on IE or on firefox.
Any ideas?
PC is running XP 32bit home, chrome 5.0.375.99

Have you tried uninstall it and reinstall it?

I updated chrome before I posted, no change, just uninstalled and reinstalling now.

Hmmm... Google must've not liked your parents' computer... Try switching from Microsoft to a Mac or Linux... like part of Google's internal OS usage policy :-D

So it's happening with all sites, not just Stuff?  

Have you tried clearing cookies and making sure the Proxy settings are set to "Automatically detect settings"?

Yeah any site I try.
yes, deleted all cookies before i uninstalled and againt after the new install.
Do you mean the lan settings under internet properties? if so yeah its on auto detect.

Weirdness...

It used to work, right?  Any new firewalls or AV been installed since last time you saw it working?

yeah was working last week when i was here.
Just spoke to father in law and he says the only software that may have changed is Mcafee just doing its standard updating

A quick google finds the lots of the same problem, the majority of which seem to be caused by malware.

Do a sweep - Spybot or Malwarebytes - and reset the proxy, and see how ya go.  Good luck ...

Done a sweep, McAfee found nothing, Adware found two tracking cookies. Chrome still not working, no change
