I have an old Acer Aspire 1350 laptop that still goes as good as it does when it was new.  But this morning when I was using it, and then went to put it away, the  power supply cable that goes into the laptop had started to melt.  Would this signify a power supply on the way out?

OMG, I think the adapter is dead. The laptop may not be the problem. Definitely get a new cable if you want to use it again.

Just be careful not to get a cheap one as it may even fry your laptop.
