Remove the video driver, reboot, reinstall the latest driver.

Just looks as if the driver has a corrupt file or its even the wrong driver for the card you have.

Better still, if you bought a computer from Trade Me you should wipe it completely and reinstall from the image CD/partition or from your own media. Don't trust computers someone else used before.

it was a trade me store, brand new, its actually been a headache since i got it, the auction clearly said, windows 7 pre installed, it wasn't, after a few emails back and forth i had no choice but to give bad feedback, next thing i receive an email from their boss saying he'll give me a bottle of wine if i remove my feedback. he offered to refund me, but since i accidently chucked the box out, they wouldn't take it back

Its the desktop background .....

Laughing

I have also seen this issue with drivers (as above) or a power supply not providing enough juice to the display card directly.

Cheers

Download "Speccy" from piriform.com - run that and then post here the main screen... thatll tell us what video card you have and motherboard etc. Then we can hopefully direct you to the correct drivers etc :)

THat sounds a bit off to be honest, not taking it back just because the box isnt available....was it a standard brown PC box ? :) Got oodles of them here ;)

OK, goto http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

You want the GeForce 9 series drivers

Download, install. Itll probably want to reboot once or twice to remove the old drivers and then install the new ones, but itll pretty much do it all itself.

Fingers crossed thats it..... if youre not comfortable doing this sort of thing yourself, I recommend getting someone who has done it before to do it for you. Nothing should go wrong, but cannot guarantee it.

If all appears to install fine but you still get that same issue, personally Id reinstall Windows and start from scratch, if still faulty after that, Id get back to the shop and get them to potentially swap the video card.

In saying that though, some stores get shirty about warranty etc if youve reinstalled the OS yourself etc. So maybe try updating the drivers first then talk to the shop and see what they can offer....

Next time I suggest you crop the image down to just the window we need to see - posting the whole high resolution screenshot makes things too small...

Windows 7 has the Snipping tool - perfect for that :)

Must admit my old eyes were struggling to see the text in that screen ;)
