I have been holding on to a second hand dual xeon processor intel server with a dual
redundant power supply which was custom built by a company (not for me) for a little
while now. They call it a cyclone z series 5001 HSRP server.
The 2 power units are intel DPS 450GB (I'm guessing 450 watts each) and plug/slot into to a
*suspected* faulty ?power supply backplane?. I've never had it working...
The server won't turn on at all, no disk spins/fans/lights, all that happens is the green
lights on the two power supplies flash when plugged in, indicating a power problem.
This still happens when all cables from the backplane are disconnected. The wall socket isn't
faulty. I have tried replacing the power units with another (same model) but no difference.
Does anyone know if I can confirm this is the problem and if so does anyone know how I
can fix the problem or source the same backplane or come up with a better solution.

Thanks in advance for your expertise.

You could try run the server off a regular atx power supply to confirm its working.
