Hi there i am looking at upgrading my laptop hardware


I hvae a hp pavillion  dv6700 series laptop

i would like to upgrade my wireless card from 802.11g to 802.11n
and my ethernet adapter from a fast 100mb ethernet adapter to a gigabit adapter?

Can i just buy any laptop adapters off trademe and put them in and will it have changed?

e.g if i buy a 802.11n wireless card for laptop and put it into my laptop wil my laptop now be 802.11n?

Depending on the laptop and if it has a mini-PCIe wifi card, maybe. If it is, you'd have to attach the antenna to it yourself, etc.

You can't upgrade the built in ethernet adaptor though, that's part of the chipset on the motherboard.

do you know where i can get a cheap 802.11n wifi card for my laptop?

Well, do some googling and see if your laptop has one and how to remove/replace it. Probably trademe or pricespy.co.nz would be your best bet.
