As they title says.

My current setup is as follows.
CPU:     Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz
RAM:     4x 1GB Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400
MOBO:  ASUS P5Q-PRO P45
GPU:     512Mb GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+
HD:       2 x 500Gb WD Caviar Black in RAID 0
            1 x 1Tb WD Caviar Blue
OS:       Windows 7 Pro 64bit

I game and this was fine for the last 2 years and it still does the job and a good one at that.
I can overclock this setup no worries to 333Mhz with a x10 multiplier with a average Vcore
and no temperature difference but it's had a rough history with me trying to get the highest
stale OC possible and doesn't like being clocked for long periods as its not stable anymore.
SOoooOOoooOOOOo i'm keen to upgrade or do a new build.

So here are my questions,
1) Any good programs to see exactly what the bottle neck is?
2) Your guess at the bottle neck??
3) Would you upgrade or do a new build? If so what would you do?

With new technology coming up and us being at a current stand still before the next big move
I believe now is a good time to do this as I don't like spending heaps!

My current thoughts are:
CPU:     Intel core i3 530 (clocked past the 540)
RAM:     2x 2Gb OCZ Gold DDR3
MOBO:  Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3
GPU:     1Gb Sapphire Radeon HD5850
HD:       ?????

OS:       Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Current Bottle Neck - Your CPU, Pentium Dual Cores are Seriously Lacking Power in today's time.

From the top of my memory, Your new System will be more than enough for most things.

I presumed it was the CPU as when clocked games ran all good at max x max.

So with a new cpu needed I'm guessing an upgrade is out of the question and I'm now looking at a new build?

Anyone want to buy my old build???? =P

So suggestions on:

CPU:     Intel core i3 530 (clocked past the 540)
RAM:     2x 2Gb OCZ Gold DDR3
MOBO:  Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3
GPU:     1Gb Sapphire Radeon HD5850
HD:       ?????
OS:       Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Thanks

CPU:       i7 920 @ 3GHz
RAM:      6 x 1GB Corsair Dominator @ 1600
MOBO:   ASUS P6T X58
GPU:       1GB AMD Radeon 6700
HD:         2 x 500Gb WD Caviar Black in RAID 0
                1 x 1Tb WD Caviar Blue
OS:         Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Perhaps consider Core I3 550 and/or 57M board. Option might be I5 665K (but more expensive).

Wouldnt overclock. Also I3 has IGP so check for memory requirements.

nakedmolerat: why core i3? budget?

Budget and can overclock past/up to the i5 series, also it's for mostly FPS gaming which as I believe wouldn't profit from a quad core vs. dual core?

Is the H57M worth the extra $50 over the H55M?
Also why wouldn't/shouldn't I overclock?  And could you explain IGP?
If your going to suggest stuff atleast tell me why I should do so? Please? Other wise it could just be your matter of oppinion wasting me money that I dont have Smile thanks

No reason not to overclock!
you could overclock the i3 530 to a much higher clock then the stock i3 560 with ease.
Just make sure you have a good heatsink.

Get a decent Core 2 Quad cpu and Radeon 6850, should last you a whole longer, I upgrade from Pentium DC 2140 to Q9300 and speed boost is nice!

Or if you can wait sandybridge is on the corner, since sandbridge uses different socket than current i series so it is better off to wait.
