Until now I have had Eset Smart Security 4 and have found it really great. It has always worked great etc and never slowed my system or hogged resources... But until now work have also paid my subscription for me... And now that im leaving that job I have to either buy my own subscription or get a different programme.

So... What do you think is the best free... or even paid (curious to know whats out there) antivirus / spyware software that does a great job without being a resource hog.

Thanks

Some might not agree with the memory non-hogginess, but Microsoft Security Essentials does what you want.

Free, light, simple, and as darn good as the others (according to some reviews)

Cool... Im guessing its just a free download off the Microsoft website?

Do you know how hoggy? Noticeable? I dont really do anything REALLY heavy on my computer so it should be alright anyway...

Well - I don't feel it's hoggy. It's mainly how you perceive it and what you do which may make it show up. I suppose you have nothing to lose - as it's free...

Thumbs Up I also like Microsoft Security Essentials but another good alternative is Avast what is also for free. I don't recommend AVG though.
