Opera 10 upgraded itself to opera 11 today - so I expect a few older opera users will have started using it.

I have used opera for probably 10 years now - it just gets better and better - though I use chrome as well. I always liked the inbuilt mail client - and it had tabs years before anyone else thought of them.

Seems pretty quick. Opera suffered from memory leaks for quite a while - but I think they have fixed them a few versions ago.

Opera was always a good browser. Shame Firefox (which is a bit of bloatware these days) got more marketing and Google Chrome (which is really fast and what I am using now) is actually really good.

Opera is doing well in the mobile space...

Here is the Live Geekzone Stats, the last 30 days. As at the time I am posting this Opera is used by only 2.2% of our visitors. This is out of hundreds of thousands visits so I'd say is quite accurate.

I was once an Opera fan and still am, I miss some of the caching features, fast-forward and the auto refresh.

However Chrome has taken over for me :)

Yes - I have to agree - I never really deserved the market share they got when Opera had so much more going for it - and in many ways still does.

Chrome is my primary browser these days followed by Opera and I occasionally use IE when I have to. Have occasionally used Firefox but usually get bored with it and dont use it.

I hope that chrome doesnt go down the usually inevitable path of getting fatter/slower and more bloated as usually seems to be the way of software these days.

To anyone that hasn't given Opera a try - give it a go. It has some pretty good features for a not too big program, namely:

Browser (of course)
Able to optimise itself for slow networks
Mail client (manages multiple accounts very well)
Bit torrent client
Opera unite - media manager/file sharing/web server (host your own website from your own PC)
Opera link - lets you have your copies of opera that you use on different Pcs/phones sync bookmarks etc

i have used opera since ver 8. so far there is no reason for me to use different browsers. never fall in love with fx, tried chrome but imo still not as good/fast/smooth as opera

I must be one of the 2.2% who use Opera to view Geekzone. But then I am a web developer so I do have Opera, Firefox, Chrome and IE all open at once on my desktop right now.

Hi have it as a spair web browser, thinking about switching to it sence it does every think chrome does but also syncs to my Android phone for bookmarks. But the only thing it annoys me with is that it does not sync the addons and browser settings like chrome does. I find if your hdd is busy its quicker than chrome though Opera seems to cache in the ram more than the hdd which is good if you got plenty of ram.

It's my primary browser and is used on my W7 pc, Linux netbook, and HTC phone.

It hasn't auto updated me to 11 yet although i've been pretty happy since the 10.5 release where their javascript engine was updated to blistering performance.

It's got to be one of if not the fastest browsers to load the app and view pages, you don't need to download anything for it cause it's already got everything by default (for me at least), and the mail application is handy and works very well.

Been a fan since version 8 I think

Oh, just updated and now can have the mail tab auto hide...this is nice :)

Good piece of software. Faster than its predecessors but not as fast as chrome. A new feature called tab stacking is seldom usefull. Extension support is added which is all very good. It now has the flexibility of Firefox with already 1000+ extensions. I will give it 7 out of 10. Seriously speaking Google Chrome is far better.
