Hi
What I mean by hanging is that for about a week now if I click on Google Chrome the little blue circle thingy just goes round and round endlessly and nothing else happens. Simply can't get the browser to open. Have done a cleanout of my computer. Nearly all other websites are behaving normally. I clicked on Google Chrome Help button but got the same non-response. Any ideas please? Thanks heaps :)

Have you tried installing an updated version? http://www.google.com/chrome

The problem sounds strange, do any webpages load?

So it's the browser not opening or a web site not opening? Or are seeing those other "websites behaving normally" in another browser?

Completely uninstall the browser then reinstall it - making sure you have the latest version.

Maybe you are running a personal firewall and blocked by accident. Chrome updates itself frequently, most free personal firewalls will see each update as a new program and prompt the user to confirm/deny it. Easily missed.
