Hey guys, if i made a little case to hold 4 hard drives (already got brackets etc), is there something i can use to make 4 sata devices - in turn into one sata device - out. or even to usb? Or somehow make it so there will be 1 usb/sata cable for all 4 drives. Hoping for a nas like setup, but cheaper and just like an external hdd. also powering them might be a problem, so i would probably use a small PSU to power 4 drives and that leave me with 1 plug for the wall, and hopefully one USB/SATA if the chip exists. any ideas? thanks !
I'd steer clear of USB 2.0 at least and look into something that supports esata port multiplication feature (if your chipset/motherboard supports it. Not all do.).
Here are some links to some premade enclosures, I'm not sure how you'd go about doing a DIY. I think Newegg has the Sans Digital one for around $100 and it has some pretty good reviews on MediaSmartServer.
