I recently switched over to using a Nokia Lumia 800 (optus sourced model) on 2 degrees network. I have noticed that where there is no wi-fi coverage i have the following odd behaviour:

* Internet Explorer works fine, browsing websites etc
* Apps - such as foursquare, rowi, alphajax, powershop portable (my app) - dont have any network connection and dont show any errors

I never had any such issues when using the HTC Trophy (voda model) on 2 degrees network.

I've tried rebooting the phone, to rule out DNS caching issues, but these apps still wont connect after a reboot.

Mobile network is set to Data Connection = ON; Roaming = ON (also tried off); Highest Connection Speed = 3G. Network Selection = Automatic (I get scan unsuccessful if i try manual)

I 've checked the APN - its set to "internet" which is correct for 2deg (and what my HTC used)

I don't have a voda microsim to test with, so not sure if its a carrier or handset issue.  Maybe something screwy with the fact that this handset came from "Optus Australia"...?

Or, is there a secret setting on the lumia that i'm missing that stops apps from using data connections, but lets IE continue to work ok?
