Hmm, Just checked out the pics taken with the camera and not overly impressed, suffers from that same over-enhancement colour blending issue my 6234 suffered from. Flickr is also very similar, images having the watercolour effect things like tree's and soloid coulours go like watercolours. are all fuzzy-white, I know it's only a CMOS sensor but they boast about it so much, I had my first play with it, Impressed though GPS recepetion was weak (compared to my 6275 but no worse than the quicky patched up 6165)

But very impressed, Definaltly got convergence sussed, Shame they could no sacrfice a bit fatter battery for a CCD sensor.
It also looks like Nokia have gotten their quality issues sorted out as it feels very solid.

I was also disappointed with the quality of the sample photos that I've seen. Don't get me wrong - it's great by camera phone standards - but I had hopes that the quality might be close to that of a decent standalone camera which appears not to be the case. The aggressive noise reduction, artificial sharpening, barrel distortion, lack of optical zoom, and anaemic LED flash will mean that few people will consider this to be an adequete replacement for a 'real' camera.

I think we're still some way from having a phone with a decent sized form factor that can truely replace a digital camera. There is no reason why CMOS can't be as good as CCD and some camera manufactuers are now moving to CMOS sensors since they use less power.

This map issue is a bit concerning. That is one thing that I would expect to be done so I hope that they improve the maps soon.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

The maps will get sorted once its released here I should think, one downside of adopting the N95 earlier than its NZ release date I expect. Haven't sorted my maps yet, been too busy mucking around with other features.

I love the camera, but then I haven't had a digital for quite a while, so this represents a significant leap over my 2MP V3x. I really liked the V3x when I got it 4 months ago, the best phone I'd owned to date, now it looks so backwards it isn't even funny. . . got to love that technology! I expect in another 8-12 months I'll be looking at my N95 in the same light, LOL.

In respect of the overly agressive noise reduction and edge-sharpening, change the "user-defined" settings to "softer" (there is a link to N95 tips at allaboutsymbian that gives the exact details) to sort out that to an extent. Workarounds aren't ideal, but it seems like the best solution so far. Its fortunate that this issue is one that can be ameliorated by firmware upgrade later.

Really enjoyed commuting to Middlemore (5th yr med) this morning and listening to mp3's from the phone over the radio (via Belkin Tunecast II). So fed up with the radio since my last mp3 player/flashdrive curled up and died a few months back.

About to go to Etown to get my N95 now because XPcomputers was just over $1500 including gst so Etown is cheaper and I want to buy the phone now.

Once again, I can't wait.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

Just checked out parallel imported website, it says $1469 but when you click on it the price comes out to be $1379 . Everyday i wake up to see a price drop so hopefully it would be quite cheaper by the end of this month :P

Hey guys,

I would avoid Cool Mobile in the Auckland CBD as much as possible. Although their prices are very competitive, their service is often not. I haven't bought anything from them and would never do so because their attitude to customer service is below par. They don't seem to care at all. If anything goes wrong with your phone... I would be very worried.

In fact, I remember going into there a while before the N95 was released and asking them about the N95. They were very rude to me.

Actually, I now remember that I said that I went there earlier in the thread and I said the they were rude.

Yeah, good to know I am not alone on this.

I would quite happily pay more to buy from others than them. Cheap isn't always good.
