BrentR: Hi Starplay,
As per my DM.
Nokia NZ only sell via their retail partners, we do not have the ability to sell to end users.
As other have mentioned you are quite able to remove the likes of the wallpapers, startup screens, links if you like, or move them to a folder of your choosing.
Having a version brought in from another country has you running the risk of not being covered under a Nokia New Zealand warranty (it will need to be sent back to the country of purchase), inability to update firmware to locally approved versions, language packs you may not want (arabic, chinese etc)
As Nik has also mentioned, most if not all First Mobile and Digital Mobile stores have live devices in store that you can have a look at and make a decision on whether or not local customisation that is there is too much for you.
Hope this helps clear up your questions, but feel free to ask away if you have more.
lyonrouge: dear Nokia team can i use self signed certificates for exchange
BrentR: Hi Starplay,
You need to change the following settings within the handset
Menu > Settings > Phone > Display > Welcome Note/Logo > Set to image or text.

BrentR: Hey,
Not really, it is hardloaded in the firmware, the above is the easiest solution.
You can remove the web bookmarks and change the homepage to whatever you like.
In regards to the VLive bookmark, this may also be hard loaded within the menu structure. I don't have a Vodafone version with me to check right now though. You can put this into an alternate folder so it's out of sight, out of mind though
Technofreak: Hey Guys,
Don't be too tough on Nokia re not seling to the public. You can't go directly to Sony or Philips and buy a TV off them you have to go to the retailer. That's effectively whats happening here. If a brand owner wants their product supported/sold by retailers in the local community they need to show some loyalty to their retailers by not competing with them.
Yeah, I know the branded thing is a real pain especially when Vfone or Telecom are slower than a wet week in releasing firmware updates for their phones, tho hopefully this won't be an issue with the likes of the N8 since it seems that they don't customise the firmware to any extent.
