I've had a hunt for firmware for my Lumia 710 (RM-809). Using navifirm, Nokia's servers are showing that the latest Telecom NZ firmware is showing as 1600.3031.8773.12121, which is currently installed on my phone. The 7.8 firmware appears to be 1600.3036.8858.12460.

Does this means that Telecom have blocked, or otherwise delayed, the update?

You are right it has been pulled, my comment from earlier in Feb identified the later firmware for the Telecom 710 on the Nokia site itself.

I also agree with Freitasm, they should publish an additional bug fix for the live tiles (ie. two updates).

In the same time I have been waiting for 7.8 my iphone has had pushed to me (didn't have to look for it) 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2.

How does MS believe that this isn't a better approach?

They aren't used to fast releases. They're afraid of winning. The mobile team is slow because they have no guts to win. Their marketing folks might go around talking up but seriously the whole ecosystem is flawed from top to bottom and they won't admit it.

The Nokia Lumia series is probably one of the most beautifully designed and crafted phone around. Seriously nice stuff. But Microsoft is letting them down hard.

I have to admit I am also getting very fed up with updates, mum's 710 is still not offering 7.8. Its great they are releasing updates but what good is it if I can't install them???

just wait, I'll update this thread when 7.8 becomes available

A minor issue has been identified where some 7.8 tiles stop updating and we are working on a fix now

when 7.8 comes out you're basically getting 3 things in the update

twice as many access colours in themes, up to 20
ability for Bing images to appear on your lock screen

After waiting the entirety of February for an OTA update I just did it myself. Seems to work really nicely on my 900.

Windows Phone 7.8 with Live Tiles fix is now being delivered. I wasn't sure if it would offer the update to handsets already running 7.8 so installed Zune again just to see if my old devices would receive the update and here it is.

First time in two years I didn't have to do any trick to be offered an update for Windows Phone 7.

Hmmm. Wife's HTC Trophy was not offered the udpate on the first five weeks availability and is not being offered now. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Sorry, this is well understood. What's not understood is with the existing infrastructure, knowledge and customer expectations "staggering" updates is just plain dumb strategy.

well for one, all the phones would have received a busted 7.8 update, the reason why 7.8 had to be rereleased like it was this morning

now why was there a bug in the update is a completely different question

MSFT is not like APPL who has the market share to tell the carriers what to do

You know that these Windows Phone devices are not like a PC. There is an extra complication involved there with the carriers
