nathan: well for one, all the phones would have received a busted 7.8 update, the reason why 7.8 had to be rereleased like it was this morning

No questioning this. Completely acceptable having the update being pulled. Once it's available again though it should just be delivered. The whole release schedule is a joke.

Couldn't agree more. I find it curious that with all WP8 phones I've setup for clients the updates appear practically instantaneously - and these are OTA, not computer-based.

Meanwhile I too sit here with my Lumia 800 having "no updates found". Uh huh - blame the carriers...

Vodafone NZ customers are still waiting for the update to the Nokia Lumia 820 to enable 4G / LTE and this was approved a while back

For some reason someone there decided to disable 4G in the OS ROM image you're using, which now needs an update to re-enable

I hear you that you're frustrated

MSFT doesn't possess the marketshare power to tell the carriers what to do unlike AAPL

WP7 updates are staggered out over 21 days unlike WP8 updates where you can go in and check for updates in settings menu, and it checks immediately

The way to get your WP7 to update now, to get it to the front of the queue, instead of waiting your turn, are widely published on the Internet

Can the Mac OS X Windows Phone 7 connector do updates as well? I don't have Zune anymore since installing Windows 8, but have the Mac OS X connector on wife's Mac - and her Windows Phone hasn't received even the first update of three or four to get to 7.8...

Yes, but you have to tell it to check for an update after you get the first notification. Alsothe update process seems slow and the updater wont tell you what is being installed, just the release notes.

there's nothing to be fixed, it is what it is, its by design

WP7.x updates are staggered out over 3 weeks

is your 710 purchased in NZ?

its possible that whatever carrier it came from hasn't approved the 7.8 update for distribution

I don't have a WP7 (only WP8) here with me to check, but I think it says the carrier/mobile operator name under settings, about
