Are you using Mapsource to load the maps onto your N95?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Didn't PeeJay make the MGmaps 180MB cache? he deserves the credit, not me..

I'm about to try installing the MGMAPS maps on to the Nokia 6275 (built in GPS Nokia Series 40) and the e50 (Symbian v3 no built in GPS but It supports the standard Nokia map application!)

i'll report back results when done.

You need to combine the NZ maps and the POI map using mapsource and instal the resulting image into your device. Then with Mobile XT click "Where to" then "Food, Hotels" then "Spell Name". You cannot search to a street number, just the street name.

Got it thanks peejay.. didn't realise it was thru 'food' 'hotels' it works now.. now I just have to work out how to read all the poi abbreviations eg r r w b w etc

You'r welcome. I am loking forward to the time when the NZ free maps become fully searchable like the Garmin one, best of both worlds then.

Wow after extracting the 450mb file, it has currently taken over 2 hours to transfer to my memory card through Nokia Suite. I think a word of advise to others - take your memory card out and transfer the files onto it that way through an SD adapter. That way it should be a lot faster.

I've done all this above using the 10 maps (maps + pios) but I still cant work out how to use the spell name. If I type a street name in herr near where I am it just continues seaching out 2km, 10km, 20km ...
And all those abbreviation - driving me nuts.

I see NZtechfreak was suggesting earlier to load them as a "custom poi" using the garmin poi loader. Then they can be searched under etras, cumstom pois. However whee do we get the gpx or csv file from for the loader. The nz open gps site just seems to have the pois as a map.

Any more ideas?

The CSV file needs to be downloaded from another source. But Luckily I still had it in my computer. I have now uploaded it onto the server.

It would be great if someone can figure out how to find addresses. That would it top it all off. I heard in another forum that TomTom will also bring out V8 of their software which will use the inbuilt GPS reciever inside the N95. Cant wait to try that.

hello

can someone explain to me

1. MGMapsCacheNZ (~500MB) - what does it contains? how is it difference with maps from peejayw? I have mgmaps v1.3

2. NZ Street POI.csv - what this file for? i have used mgmaps before and in order to search the street, i never need it before.
