Hey guys ive had my n97 for a week now. Im still having connection problems.
Ive set my Wifi to priority 1 and VF to priority 2 on internet, multimedia messaging and
WAP services. Ive set my default network destination to "internet".
Not only does it not change from wifi to VF automatically and vise versa. but the only way i can change
from wifi to VF is to reboot. When i reboot i get an option to connect to whichever is
available. Is this a software fault? Ive read through this thread and others reguarding
connection problems, just wondering if anyone has got it working yet?
Starting to get frustrated turning my phone on and off all day.

Mint, thanks Brent!!

I ran the battery completely flat today, plugged it into charge for about 30 mins and tried to turn the phone back on to use while charging...as the manual says is sweet to do...but it just seems to die completely. Screen goes blank, stops charging and becomes fully unresponsive.

Anyone else had this happen?

Maybe i'll just give it a good charge overnight and see what happens...bring on v12!!

Were you charging via USB or the AC Charger?

Via USB is only a trickle charge.

Sounds simular to the issues I originally had...took me a while to figure out...

Although, my issue was my N97 would connect to my wifi network, and then when out of range, it would not automatically connect to VF, so kept comeing backs with a connection error...is this what you are expereincing?

If so, here what you need to do:

1) Delete your home wifi connection in:
Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations

You can always easily re-add it later

2) Reboot

3) Give the device time to load, eventually once the Home Screen has fully loaded, it should display a connection popup, asking what you want to set as your default connection...it will also ask if you want to set a particular connection to 'connect automatically'

Set this 'default' connection to Vodafone, and to 'connect automatically'

4) Now setup your wifi connection again, and in Destinations > Internet, make it #1 priority

5) In the Destinations folder, go to Options > Default connection, and select Internet.

Hopefully after doing all that, the following will happen:
- Your default data connection will be Vodafone (if nothing in the priority list is avail, it uses Vodafone)
- The priority list will include everything inside the Internet folder
- When in range of your home wifi, it will automatically connect and use that for data first
- When outside your home wifi, it will automatically connect to Vodafone and use that for data

It will not, unfortunatley, reconnect to your home wifi when you come back home
eg. It will do VF > home wifi > VF
It will not do VF > home wifi > VF > home wifi...etc etc

Which is dumb.

Note:
That connection cycle above, is only in regards of the Home Screen...apps, on the other hand, have their own connection settings and if there is a known open wifi network available, will force the wifi connection to be used rather than the Vodafone connection, if set in the apps preferences.

Easy.

I have just migrated from a N95-8Gb and so far all is good apart from one small issue.
Where is the Home Media (Media Centre) connector?

On my N95 it was under Tools, Connectivity, Home media

Does it exist under another, not too obvious, name?

Neither Facebook or AccuWeather widgets/apps have editable connection settings...which is why than cause cause issues at times, be buggy.

I dont think it exists on the N97...i have not found or seen it, nor read of it for the N97

If you can find the SIS file it will quite probably work on the N97, you won't get the nice UI experience that you have on the N95 but there's no reason as to it not working.

WOW. That is a BIG downer. It was a nice and easy way to inobtrusively listen to music at home (headphones) without loading all the files onto the phone.

@BrentR - I searched the phone via a USB File Mode connection and only found 2 files (2000fbba.sis & a0000fd0.sis) but have no idea what these are. How would you find the SIS file?

Hey guys, just being reading that gravity version 1.20 is available. Version on my phone
is 1.19, checked for updates on my phone but it says i have the latest software.
Are there any other ways to update?

Gravity 1.20 has been available for quie some time...I have version 1.21.6005...which includes Facebook updates and fullscreen mode, really cool.

People...all over the blogoshere is reports of the latest firmware coming soon...v12.0.023

is it possible to increase the phone memory on C:/ as I only have 20.8MB left. I have installed all of my apps onto E:/ however, even if I do that, the C:/ drive memory still decreases.

Every now and then I will go to open an app and a warning will pop up saying not enough memory to open the app. The task manager (from holding down the menu button) on reports the home screen and the menu are open. Usually a phone restart will fix the problem, however it seems unnecessary.

Any ideas?

I have only installed apps onto my phone, all onto the E:/ drive.

Your phone memory is not the reason for the low memory warnings...the low memory warnings are to do with the RAM....the lack of which is an issue on the N97.

Going on what you listed, it does not appear you are running much other then the default apps...so it is a concern you get that warning....I can run all the default apps, facebook and accuweather widgets, gravity, nimbuzz, and the internet browser without issue, but if I try to run N-Gage, I then get the warning and have to close nimbuzz minimum, sometimes gravity as well to free up RAM memory.
