Technofreak: I've been trying to get Pre Ware installed on my Touchpad.  I've run into problems getting WebOS quick install loaded onto my PC which runs XP.

I have Ovi Suite installed and when I click on the WebOSQuickInstall-4.3.1.jar file (as you would normally do to run the file) Ovi Suite launches  as it thinks I want to install the file onto my phone.  My research shows this sort of action to be normal when programmes like Ovi Suite are installed...

I have Ovi Suite and installed Preware using the command line method, but that still required installing novacom divers using UniversalNovacomInstaller.jar. The thing that worked for me in the end, was to open a command window and use:

"c:\program files\java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -jar \path\to\jar-file.jar

Hi Alexx,

Thanks for the info.  I got it to work on the another PC as you will see in post No. 525587.  Just the tethering now.

Ekud, what app are you using to tether with the iPhone?

Sony Xperia XA2 running Sailfish OS. https://sailfishos.org The true independent open source mobile OS
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
Dell Inspiron 14z i5

The stock native tethering on the Galaxy S 2 works fine, as does the tethering in CyanogenMod7.

It'll only work with an Infrastructure network type, if the software only provides an AdHoc connection then it won't work.

The TP is also a bit sensitive when it comes to protocols. Try setting up a complete unsecure open network first to see if it'll find it, then try turning WPA etc on.

I've been testing with open network just to see if it works, but as I say no joy. Will try again this week. Time consuming stuff.

Splashtop now live in our App Catalog. Was $12 this morning, but they have just dropped the price to $6.49.

I’m using it now in the Firefox browser in my virtual WinXP machine running through a VPN and it works flawlessly. Very impressed. Means I now have a decent web browser on my TouchPad finally! :}

Question for those who returned their devices for repair/replace.

I wiped mine before sending it. When you get your replacement and log into your account it pulls all the settings from your old one and reinstalls your old apps
