Having an interesting problem with random restarts, is dead (to all button pushes) until plugged in and then it comes alive, it doesn't restart, lock screen just lights up.

Nokia 710 - running 7.8

Has anyone just connected their Telecom purchased Lumia 800 in to Zune and received the updates? I can’t manage the unplug the network thing and am sick of been told "Your phone is up to date".

I'm on 7.10 (8773) but that is WP 7.5 I was hoping for 7.8 before they stop supporting it next year.

did you update the 'normal' way?  or did you force the update somehow.   And have you plugged in and checked for further updates?

I has some issues with my phone after updating the earlier version using a tool - i did a hard reset of the phone and the problem went away with the added bonus that i only reinstalled apps i cared about and performance/battery improved.

[CAUTION] if you hard reset the phone, make sure you copy all photos and media off first via zune.  Also note that there is no standard way to back up SMS history so keep it in mind that you are going to lose these (unless you google alternate ways and put one into practice).

I plugged my phone in to my laptop just so I can load some photos off my phone... Thought I'll check to see if my HTC Trophy has any update to 7.8... guess what? Nothing... Zune still report my phone is 7.10 (8107)... *sigh*

Sometimes I wonder why I bother with inferior services... the phone has great potential, yet the people running, administering and maintaining it seems to have huge disconnection to the real world... *huge sigh*

Of you have a 7.x phone from NZ and it hasn't received a toast notification for update to 7.8 by next Friday please let me know

By Friday, and assuming they have data connectivity with 3G if checking over WWAN or WiFi (which is the default) they all should have been offered the update to 7.8

Which mobile operator is your phone from?

If its a VF one it should receive an update notification toast by next weekend.

I'm not disconnected from the real world, and I'm listening to your frustrations.

Nathan, don't get me wrong. You're doing the best you can, but the whole process of distributing Smartphone OS updates seems to have huge dependency on carriers, it is like Microsoft is at the mercy of carriers to get the updates out the doors. It shouldn't be like that. It's frustrating as an end-user.

I've bitten many times by Microsoft's sad disappointment. UMPC, WM 6.5 Pro (MIA/KIA with Palm Pro), WP7.8 to name a few... It is really hard trying to look beyond all these disappointment for new glimpse of hope.

Kyanar,

You will never get an update for the LGs - LG have said they will not provide one. You need to manually install the update using seveneighter. I've had mixed success with this, my friend upgraded his LG fine, my Samsung focus upgraded fine, but my dads Samsung focus which was a dodgy parallel import bricked. So just be aware of that.

Citation needed for "LG have said they will not provide one".

That's not correct. I have Windows Phone 7.8 installed on my LG handset, delivered through Zune without having to use any external tool.
