Its located on the back of your device behind the battery, many different codes there but is titled simply 'Code'...take not of that and post it here and then we will be able to tell where your device originally from.

Ugh.

Please ignore the double/triple posts....I was refreshing my screen/reloading the page to check for new posts on my N97, but it also reposted....bah!

Can a mod delete please?

Anyway, your N97 code reveals itself as: RM-507_NAM_NAM
Which means ya musta got it from the US of A.....and ya using it on Telecom?
The 507 is the 850mhz version I believe.

yep, thats rite. But im using it on voda as i dnt get xt coverage where i live.

Hmmmm......

Using the 507 version on Vodafone you will not be getting 3G coverage in many areas, you will only get 3G when in areas with 2100mhz......

If you were always planning on using Vodafone, you should have got the 505 version, which uses the 900mhz freqency instead of 850mhz as your 507 N97 does.

Not the end of the world, the device will still work as ya know, but ya will not expereince the best speeds when online or will not always be able to use video calling

it does quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 as well as WCDMA 850/2100 so its exactly what i want.

I only get 2G where I live, so when I need 3g i am usually in civilisation

So for the majority of my time, I run on the 3.5G HSDPA 2100 range, then when I go into the woods to get to my house, I jump onto the 900 frequency. This is opposed to running on 850 all the time, and having no reception when im at home...

I realise the N97 has quadband, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, but of course those frequenices are only 2G.

The 3G frequencies are the WCDMA 850/900/2100
The 505 device has WCDMA 900/2100 (both frequencies Vodafone use)
The 507 device has WCDMA 850/2100 (both frequencies Telecom use)
(both devices have 2G quadband GSM 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies)

To use a 507 device on a network that operates the 900/2100 frequencies...is not optimum.

As I said, of course you can still use the device, as you obviously are, but as the 507 device does not work on Vodafones 900mhz WCDMA frequency, it will not provide the best expereince.
You will only get optimum results when in range of the 2100mhz WCDMA frequency, otherwise it will always drop back to the 2G GSM freqeuncies.

So I know your saying it works, and is exactly what you want...but the fact is it was not the best choice for Vodafone...you should have brought the 505.

yep. I cant realy use it fully. But as i dnt get xt, i dnt have much choice. I dnt get voda 900wcdma here either as my e71 is rolling on 2g here also. Most of my phone using time is away from home so i get good usage out of it.
