SMS backup restore has been having intermittent issues, you might want to try again and leave it plugged in over night

So you were successful in transferring all your data to the X3? what was your start hardware? and did you successfully do an 8.1 to 10 transfer of your data.

Went back to my 930 in the end :( Windows 10 is not that good.

Rather than the 950XL you could try the HP elite X3 however your problems may not be hardware related.

I am still running my 930 on 8.1 (for app availability and Maps reasons) but am looking to upgrade my phone to either a 950XL dual sim or an Elite X3 dual sim but am somewhat concerned about backup transfer to the new phone, may have to pop over to win central and research some more http://forums.windowscentral.com/microsoft-lumia-950-xl/

It was just a lot of apps I use had a different implementation in Windows 10, FM radio wasn't enabled by default (something I use every day), notifications were slow/didn't happen.

On the plus side the camera was really nice. A pity, really. If I could just have put Windows Mobile 8 on there I would have been more than happy with it.

Well I have had my 950XL dual sim a couple of days now, the hardware is fantastic however I am less than impressed with Win10 it is a far from fully functional and has a lot of issues that didn't occur in Win8.1. If I could use this phone on 8.1 I would be a happy camper.

I came from a 930 (still have it) but I really wanted a dual sim for my travel, work and living in China so that I could manage my NZ business calls whilst there but other issues with Win 10 preclude my having 100% satisfaction with the platform such as can't get international QQ or China offline maps. Another stupid thing that MS has done is pulled FM radio app, sure there are 3rd party apps that sort of work on the 950XL but none were as good as the native MS app, 3rd party apps are all in MONO FFS and you cant utilise the speaker, headphone only mode and no digital data.

It really is a shame as I love the hardware my only concern is the standby button is in the most silly place you could have, I had seen this comment from others but it was not till I experienced it myself that I could see what they meant!

So it looks like 950XL dual sim for me at this stage is a fizzer so have purchased a 640XL LTE dual sim and will keep it on 8.1 which will give me all the apps that work and all the offline maps for China as well plus an internet browser that actually work 95% of the time rather than the flaky win10 explorer browser.

PS there really is an app gap on 10 that you don't have on 8.1, as I cycle thru all the apps I used on 8.1 I find that the equivalent 10 apps arn't there.

PPS could not get my SMS history to transfer from my win 8.1 930 via any method even restoring from my 930, also the transfer you data app wouldn't transfer them either.

I switched from an 830 to the 950XL for a few weeks and my main disappointment is that right from the start Bluetooth did not see 3rd party hardware such as EU Boom speaker and Sony BT headphones it will not connect to MS gear such as Surface Pro 3 and Band2. Before switching to the XL, the 830 worked fine with all BT equipt but once I did a factory reset to transfer ownership to my wife, BT no longer worked on that phone also.

I would be grateful of you confirm whether BT works with your XL.

Will have a look at Harvey Normans and see what it will connect too, I never had a problem with my 820, 920, 930 on 8.1
