I have been using the Huawei Ascend W1 for the last couple of days and have experienced similar issues.

This is what I have noticed.

When the contact is stored with 022xxx, the caller id works fine. But an SMS will not find the name from the address book.
When the contact is stored with +6422xxx, the called id fails but SMS's from that number will find the name from the address book.

The work around which was mentioned is to store both versions of the number in the address book but this is not acceptable.

FYI this is a known issue in the phones radio stack firmware that will be fixed with an over the air update shortly.

Thanks, I had a look another look at that section, and found the following:

Manufacturer Name
RM-846_apac_australia_new_zealand_249

Mobile Operator
000-AU

Even though the phone is set for NZ, the mobile operator looks like its set for AU...all the rest of the Settings info point to NZ (wherever there's a setting), so will ping Nokia Care to see if there's a way of setting the Mobile Operator to NZ...

My Huawei Ascend W1 was purchased from 2degreesmobile.
My country/region has been set to New Zealand.
I have updated the phone and it still is not fixed.
@Nathan: Any ideas on when they will do the update?

Hi, unfortunately not yet for the Lumia 620...I checked for software updates from Nokia, but nothing has come through...I suspect callers now think that I'm a snob as I don't answer them by name any more...

In the meantime you can save your contacts/people as both 021xxx and +6421xxx

Once i did a factory reset on the Huawei, the caller ID started to work properly!

I ended up purchasing the HTC 8X and everything is working fine on that.
