I am a past iPhone user, I currently have a Galaxy S3 and a Windows Phone 8 device, by far the easiest to use is the Windows phone by a long way.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

don't underestimate peer pressure, since teens are the main consumer of the cheaper phones, if all their friends have a android phone and all the apps that come with it , then there is no way they are going to buy a windows phone even though it may be a better phone, It all boils down to the fact that windows missed the boat with smart phones they thought they were a fad and wouldnt catch on and by the time they realised they werent it was to late.Today they could give them away and they still wouldnt get any significant market share.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

They are selling the Lumia 520 by the truck load and the market share for Win Phone has shown the biggest increase of all OS's this year.

Don't forget about the volume of units sold though, they are still so far behind it's like they only just started setting WP8 yesterday.

Totally agree with the peer pressure thing, except my teacher friend at Massey High tells me the kids all have iphones.. not cheap little androids

Peer pressure matters, sure. But WP is a good platform and phone, and note that I use iOS with no interest in WP but I see it as what it is, solid. It will grow market share

I wont go to Windows phone because the UI isn't fully fleshed out, no quick settings, no notification center, and its UI forces you to use it one way - it's specs also lag far behind, and the apps aren't there 100%

Nokia has been doing some cool hardware design matched with great cameras, but so has HTC (well, great hardware design, not so much the ultrapixel camera)

I recommend people who want to spend only a couple hundred or so on a phone to get a low end lumia instead of a Windows Phone, cheap android devices are mostly garbage.

But this whole WP8 v IOS v Android debate is the same as the Linux v Windows v OSX v ChromeOS debate, it is irrelevant, anyone should use what does the job for them in the way they want it to, when they want it to.

WP8 works well for me, it is the first truly one handed OS I have found. Do I care if its the latest "OMG I must have" or "everyone has it so I must need it thing.

Could not agree more. They are all good, your tick boxes will determine what suits best. I hate the debate. As an iOS user I can freely pick holes in it, as I can for the other two of the big three. I like iOS for the reasons I DO, that won't suit everyone else. Same applies to Android and WP

We know that Apple and Android are the two biggest players in the market and then there is the little cousin down near the bottom, Windows Phone. I have wanted to try Windows Phone for about a month or so now. I am not a big "hack my phone to install custom roms" kind of guy, but I do like owning the latest and greatest even though it is probably more powerful than what I actually need. I wont be buying one of the current Lumia devices because in the first quarter of next year we all know the new phones get announced. I will probably get the newest Lumia then, hopefully something like the 1520's specs, in a smaller screen.

Im going a bit off topic now, but I was wondering why more people wont try Windows Phone? The most common reason seems to be the app store, but there must be more to it than that. This might turn into a Apple Vs Android Vs WP debate and that probably will end up badly, so please try and keep it clean :D

One obvious answer is that "trying" a new smartphone platform is a major purchase. I'm not going to buy a new Windows phone just to try it out -- they won't let me return it if I "don't like it". None of my friends have one so I can't try out theirs. So I'll stick with what I know (Android).

It helps that I refuse to buy something that I can't run my own code on without forking out even more to Apple or Microsoft for the privilege. I only have a license for Windows XP anyway.

The honest answer? I'm lazy, and iOS is well suited to lazy people who aren't interested in tinkering with things. The UI is simple, Apple's phone and warranty support are good, and it plays nicely with my other Apple gear.

There is also the benefit of support from my workplace, as we increasingly move away from Blackberry towards iPhone. My desktop at work is Windows based and I hate it, which would put me off having a Microsoft OS on my phone.

I bought an iPhone 3G and iPad 2 years ago, wrote reviews on iPhonewzealand for them for a little while as well. Swapped to a Windows Phone 7 device then to a Galaxy S2 and Nexus 7. Went back to Windows Phone 8 last year, upgraded to another one this year and bought a Win8 Tablet - will not look back, WP8 is by far the most superior PHONE to the other systems, it doesn't lockup and it's both fast and intuitive.

It has just the right selection of apps for what I use a Smartphone for, and the only downside being Google caused, so not going to hold that against it (cannot search on GMail server from default app without workarounds).

LOL same!

Like I said its what's suits the individual user. My 4. 4S, 5, and 5S never locked up too. Same for the iPad 1, 2, 3 and Air

I am sure same can said for many if the the green guys
