So what if you bought your 1020 from TNZ and you had to move to VFNZ due to company policy. How do you get the update?

maybe you didn't read this same question earlier up the post

It is to do with the image on the phone when it was shipped

So in your case, Telecom has approved it as Brent mentioned and you will get it shortly

it has nothing to do with which carrier SIM you are using

Yup, as Nathan mentioned, handset updates are irrelevant to the carrier you're using the handset on, only where you bought it from.

Keen to know the scenario so I can pass your feedback on.

You have no DHCP?  Can you explain why :)

dclegg: How does this update process work with parallel imported handsets? I bought my daughter a Lumia 620. According the phone, it would appear it was sourced from Australia. She is running on 2degrees. Will she be a) dependant on the original overseas carrier, b) dependant on 2degrees, or c) between a rock and a hard place?

I have a Lumia 1020 which was Parallel Imported from Hong Kong.
Was pleasantly surprised this morning to find that Nokia Black was available
so wasted no time in downloading and installing it :-)
Haven't had time to check it out yet though.
Also am with 2Degrees.

At work we have been assigned a set range of IP address by the IT department. They don't allow DHCP for security reasons. Everyone else on Android or IOS can connect except for me :(

you might want to see if your work will turn on dhcp and  set up a mac address reservation for you - http://www.nokia.com/in-en/support/product/lumia-520/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA138383

Yes that's currently the only workaround. Don't take it the wrong way but static addressing rather than DHCP isn't security, its security through obscurity.
