Symbian is from bygone days, Meego never was. Things change its called progress, i look forward to what MSFT will bring

If nokia started making android phones at the same time everyone else did rather then sticking with symbian, they probably wouldnt be nearly dead and owned by MS now.

Are you running Symbian Belle?

If so open "Settings" Select "Installations" then"Installation Setting" and under "Software Installation" select "All". I also have the "Online Certificate Check" set to "Off".

That should allow you to install. Otherwise try installing from AppList.

I have no idea if I'm running Symbian Bell, how do I find out? I don't have those menu options.

I did some checking, the E 5 is running an earlier version of Symbian (S60 v9.3) than Belle. Right now there doesn't appear to be an easy way for you to install Cute radio. The AppList site I mentioned before says there may be a version of Applist coming soon for your version of Symbian.

I'll check around to see what other IP radio apps will work for you.

With the demise of the Nokia Internet Radio service, I may need to start looking around, bite the bullet and upgrade from a phone with a physical keyboard (as much as I love it). Anyone know anything about this Nokia? Does it support streaming radio? Is it a good phone?

WP8 the OS used in the 625 does support streaming radio but there are mixed reports as to how many stations the various apps access when compared to Nokia Internet Radio. Do some Googling with respect to Internet radio and WP8.

For the money I'd say a good phone. However be prepared to be disappointed in some areas with a lack of features you will have a as standard on your old phone. There is no Internet Radio app installed out of the box. You will find other apps you will need to download and possibly purchase. The level of disappointment will depend on what apps you current find useful. For example there is no file manager in WP8.

While buying a current model makes a lot of sense, if you really want a physical keyboard, consider the E7. Sure it is an old model but still available new and may do what you want. There's seems to be a growing network of third party support for apps for Symbian Belle since Nokia stopped accepting apps to the Nokia Store.

Just get the TuneIn app on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone and you have as many streaming stations as you want.

I forgot to add in my previous post, the 920 has a very good on screen keyboard, and also has very good, in fact the best predictive text/word completion I have used. It's my guess the 625 will have comparable characteristics.

If you don't need the screen real estate that is taken up by the on screen keyboard, you may well be very happy with an on screen keyboard instead of your physical keyboard. I'm guessing that since you've already got a smaller screen on your current phone you'll be happy with the screen size. I like to have the full screen available especially when entering spreadsheet data which I do daily, so the physical keyboard of the E7 is invaluable to me.

A touch screen does take some getting used to but is worth persevering with.

Yep. I love my Nokia 700 (Symbian Belle). Tiny smart-phone that fits in my front pocket, decent battery life for a smart phone, AMOLED screen, reasonable GPS with downloadable maps. The web-browser is not great however, but I get by. I don't like Windows 8 phones, and I certainly don't want a huge phone that won't fit in my pocket, that I have to charge more often.

I make no guarantees of safeness, but it seems to work ok. The first gotcha was that the search function defaults to podcasts, but can be easily switched to radio.

Try Opera Mobile or Opera Mini browsers. They are on the Nokia Store. They are much better than the stock browser. I prefer Opera Mobile. One feature that is very good is text wrapping which when activated re flows the text when you zoom the text and means you don't have to scroll left and right to read. There are a lot of other good features, like Opera link which allows you to link bookmarks between your devices running an Opera browser, including your laptop/desktop, Opera Turbo which uses a proxy server to re serve pages to use less data. There's also a saved page function for offline reading.

Cute radio seems to be a good replacement for Nokia Internet Radio. Just waiting for it to be made available for the N9 as well. Symbian might be discontinued but is certainly not dead. There's plenty of people out there that still value Symbian enough to develop apps.

I've got Opera Mobile, thanks. The Nokia Store is still working for me, which is good, and I can still pay for purchases from it with my Vodafone account. :-)

Spoken by someone whom I suspect has never owned/used either a Symbian 3 or Meego device. I don't mean a tinker with but actually used either OS for an extended period.

You are correct, Symbian is gone and Meego was pretty well still born thanks to the actions of a clown by the name of S Elop. Meego was a vastly superior OS to WP, I've used both OS's and am able to compare. Meego didn't suit his agenda and Elop killed it off before it ever got a chance to prove its' worth.

I'm not sure taking a market share of 36% and turning it into a market share of 3% can be called progress.

At the current market share for WP of around 3% I don't see it being long before WP ends up like Symbian and Meego, but for different reasons. There's not much to look forward to with respect to WP IMO.

Up until Stephen Elop killed off Symbian with his burning platforms memo Symbian was still outselling Android. Symbian wasn't the problem it has been portrayed to be. Nokia had a new OS, Meego, to succeed Symbian. If you follow the time lines and sales figures you will see where the main problem was.

If they had not announced the death of the platforms and let QT live Nokia would probably still be independent.
QT apps were supposed to run on Symbian AND MeeGo, plus any other platform that supported it..
