I realise the Mgmaps is causing problems with my phone. I think the map files are too big... When I dont use the memory card everything works fine

11 was very glitchy for me, I changed my product code so I could get the better languages and the first updates (EURO 1, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish) as before it was just english, indonesian and phillipino, yawn

With 12, the phone is much more responsive and crashes only once a week instead of 3 times a day.
VoIP and thr GPS is much better also.

A couple of web browsing glitches where the pages time out until you select a different link (Probably the horridly unreliable Vodafone web gateway and not the phone) and the normal Symbian GALLERY (not the default N95 slideshow one) does not like opening large images but asides that, all good.

Kittychan, You might want to a hard phone reset and just retore the contacts only.

Did you make sure to change the attribute of the MGMaps Cache to "Hidden"? If you dont do that simple task, the phone will produce thumbnails of all the map tiles in memory and you will suffer memory problems.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Did you make sure to change the attribute of the MGMaps Cache to "Hidden"? If you dont do that simple task, the phone will produce thumbnails of all the map tiles in memory and you will suffer memory problems.

I was waiting for you actually :) I downloaded mgmaps and downloaded your map :) However, it doesn't work, there was no map on the screen, I have to connect to the internet once then the map appears however I cannot search or do anything with it because it will ask me to connect the internet.

When I hide the Mgmaps Cache, N95 couldn't detect anything. Any advise?

Update: Hide MGmaps Cache, but memory lost again.... When you say suffer memory problem, does it mean I have to send my N95 back to the Nokia office?

No you dont have to send it back, by memory problems, all I mean is that if the Mpascache file (which is a collection of a very large number of images) is not hidden from the system, the system will produce thumbnails of all those images and you will quickly run out of RAM.

Things to check..........
Did you download the N95 version of MGMaps?
Did you install it from the jad file, not the jar file, this is vital?
Did you install it to your memory card?
Did you copy the Mapcache file (unzipped) to the root of your memory card?
Did you set MGMaps to "Stored Maps" ?
Did you hide the Mapscache file by changing the attribute to "Hidden"?

Let me know.......

Do these maps still work.
What was the story re google not supporting??Im still awaiting the arrivcal of the 4gb Microsd card before IU install this.
I havnt noted a vast increase in satelite pick up time after the upgrade yet!!

Not sure what you mean by "right click and check hidden."
Also why are you restarting your phone?
When you say nothing shows up, only MGMaps logo, do you mean that you lose all your other apps?
Have you tried allow ing it to use the network and see if it downloads maptiles from the net?

Google made Christien stop from allowing MGMaps from downloading map tiles in online mode. There is no problem with downloading maps to your computer, transferring them to your phone and then using them in offline mode which is what we want to do anyway.

Also why are you restarting your phone?
When you say nothing shows up, only MGMaps logo, do you mean that you lose all your other apps?

Not sure but you may need to delete the maps and reinstall but in order to hide it you need to download YBrowser from here and run it. Find your Mapscache dir with it in your E: dir and select it. click Options and click on File then Attributes. Where is says Hidden, change from No to Yes.
Mapscache should ten show up in your E: dir, you should not have to change anything.
As I said, I suspect it is because you have changed the file properties from Windows rather than on the phone so it may be necessary to delete the file from your card and re-install, then hide as given above.

Will try it tonight, so if I do everything correctly, the Nz map should show up right away? and can I use the search function?

If you do everything according to plan and have set MGMaps to ofline maps mode, then when you turn it on, once the gps loads the satellite data it will automatically align the map with your position. You can scroll around the map to your hearts content.
