Yeah, symtorrent would be a good way, especially with something like a popular TV show that will have thousands of seeds and peers.

I too have noticed that Opera browser is much faster - should be interesting to see what improvements the new Opera browser (version 9.5) being announced at the 3GSM conference brings.

royhid: Mini Opera is heaps better than the in built browser for loading pages quickly, just try bbc.co.uk which has loadsa images. opera loads it in no time.

How come you get such good speeds (450) with power saving enabled? Mine goes up and down, as if it is about to lose connection, but then gets it again.

I dont expect the same speeds as the laptop, as I guess its one thing downloading the data, but another processing it. i dont know if the speed tests are done with or without the processing time around the download. As good as the N95 is, it wont be the same speed as the pc.

i was gonna install the torrent app for the N96 and download something and see for real what just the download speed i achieve is.

No idea about the speeds. One moment I got 450 then it dropped to a lot less. Despite the disabled power-saving improving connection I've re-enabled it 'cos I found it was seriously chewing through the battery with the phone just idle at home.

It's a shame opera can't be as integrated into the OS the way the built-in browser is. Hang on, didn't MS do that....
On a more positive note, on the next firmware change perhaps we will see a significant browser improvement too?

get symSMB, install it, set up some smb shares between your phone and you pc using wifi, then bench the connection.

I bench an N95 8gb at 679KB/s pc to phone mass memory, and 530KB/s phone mass memory to pc

I cannot seem to find any way to get higher speeds than what they have stated.

I am continuing the benchmark process, as an application I am writing for a company depends heavily on crisp wifi access.

Other things I hope to test are doing straight wifi to ram, suspecting that mass memory access on the phone is a bottleneck.

Currently writing a computer vision application to use the camera.

I am in Auckland, so if anyone wants to hook up and discuss phone dev stuff, keen as.
