I think the argument is more VF firmware vs standard nokia firmware rather than where to actually get the device....

VF firmware has always been slower and buggier on every nokia handset i have tried.....

well, I suppose I will just join add into this thread because its sort of the same question
I can get a hold of either of 2 N95 8GB's. One has been imported from Singapore, and one is brand new from vodafone. Im thnking theyll both be around the same price. The one from singapore doesnt have any carriers branding all over it, which I like, wehreas the vodafone one is probably packed with red and white junk.
Does the one from singapore need any unlocking to work with vodafone live and MMS? Which one should i get? I need to know in 3 hours.
Cheers

This is by no means a definitive answer, but I don't think anyone here has had trouble with MMS or VLive on debranded handsets.

Does not matter which one you will get, you can rebrand them (change the product code) if you want and update them with the latest Nokia N95 firmware. I'd go for the cheaper. Or if they have exactly the same price, then go for the one which you can get faster.

Phew, yes, that is a very nice price!

Out of curiousity, if something goes wrong with it, do you return to the seller or send it overseas or are you able to send to MobileFoneRepair?

Well, if something is wrong with the phone then it will probably be noticed within the first few weeks. However, if it is a problem that develops over time it will be a bit tricky. I'm sure MobileFoneRepair could look at it for a cost. I know I would be wary about sending such a phone overseas, especially when it's worth that much.
