That is a fantastic price for an excellent phone

Guess other than Christmas specials, the price is also tumbling in light of the pending release of the N96 and N97, maybe they been told to move as much stock as possible.

If this phone did everything I wanted, I would buy it in a heartbeat at that price, but I am holding out for the N97 (and Telecoms new network)

Really excited about buying a n95 at this great price. I wonder if the n95 8G will get a price drop over the next few weeks? I'd hate to buy a vanilla n95 tomorrow and find the 8gb on sale in a few days.

In many ways the N95-1 is superior, so I wouldn't be too worried (unless plaing Quake III is very appealing to you!).

Hi,

Am interested in your reasoning behind this. Only ask as I recently managed to destroy my 8GB phone and have gone back to my N95-1 ... and am being hassled by collegues on the 8GB. Any ammo I can throw back at them would be greatly appreciated

I do think both models are easily the best devices I've used. No offence to Apple, RIM etc who all make wonderful devices as well.

The only 2 pluses with the N95-1 would be the lense cover on the camera and and expansion slot as opposed to fixed memory, you should be able to rock a 16GB microSDHC with the later version of firmware.

Personally if neither of those things matter I found the 8GB to be a far superior machine, bigger screen, faster, better looking (IMHO), bigger battery without having to modify the rear housing.

Lens cover, smaller form factor, same battery life despite the smaller capacity (yes, I've owned both, I presume the larger brighter screen is why), 2.8inch display on the 8GB is too large for QVGA (in fact even the N95's 2.6 is slightly too large, but still better pixel density), 16GB microSDHC card (and 32 to come).

I got mine from the Warehouse today but I am getting conflicting reports on the size of the Mini Sd card I can use with it.

Can it use the 8 gig mini SDHC cards?

Depends on your firmware. I can't speak for the Voda ones, but on V20 Nokia firmwares and up you can use up to 16GB microSDHC cards. My recommendation is always to debrand away from the ghastly Voda firmwares... it'll void your warranty though.

I had an 8GB one in mine last December and it was fine.

People who say it can't take them don't know what they're talking about (most CSRs in mobile stores in NZ I'm afraid). They'll also spout rubbish about it slowing your phone down - not true. It will slow down your gallery, because Nokia's inbuilt gallery application is terrible basically (something like Resco photo viewer will be just fine), and it will slow down music player library refreshes, but otherwise you should notice no difference in the day-to-day operation of the phone.

Current Firmware is 21, upgradable to 30, I have left it vodafone firmware for the time being (Warranty) but removed all the junk like Vodatheme and LIVE! button and put all the "download now" type links into a folder titled "Yawn" :-P which is hidden somwhere i'll never see it Had 8GB card working in mine, an a-data,,,, no, that's right, It's actually a Sandisk once I scraped the PAINT OFF!

The E71 is very nice. Very good quality build and nice finish to it.
It depends on your taste in phones. If you were going to be in a situation where you use in like a Blackberry, along with Mail for Exchange, it'd be great for business use.
Its still got a lot of functionallity that the N95 has, but the N95 is more for you if you're a multimedia type person. Its more for play than business. But that may be what you're looking for, and the N95 can do business too.

Its pretty well as business savvy as the E71 (nice handset too). Mail for Exchange can be done on the N95 on the new mail client beta I think.

Yup, sure can. MfE has some problems though. I've installed it on a couple of phones at Vector, including my N96, an E90 and some E50's, and often if you change the user profile, you have to reinstall MfE or it won't work properly. The E50's in particular have trouble.
My N96 hasn't had much trouble though, but it uses a different version to the other ones.
