HardCorePawn: Any chance you can specify exactly which links you used to get the drivers etc?

I did a google search on 'vogue gps drivers'... and found a link on PPCGeeks (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25407)

However, after installing the .cab I found there that supposedly installed the drivers and the kickstart and making the reg changes you specified (FYI, I had no 'Multiplexer/MaxBufferSize' key???),

hi... yep thats the page i found the drivers.. i went for the drivers & the .exe rather than the cab file so no help there... oh sorry i didn't mention you will need to create the key

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize       Value: 512

Thanks for the reply...

How did you manually install the files? I'm using Resco File Explorer, and when I try to rename the existing GPS files (gpsapi.dll, gpsdaemonService.dll, gpsid.dll and gpsid_qct.dll) I just get access denied errors...

cheers,
HCP

hi...i'm using resco too, however when i first "installed" the drivers i simply d & d them into the \windows folder from my pc...there was one that would not copy across as it seems it needed to overwrite a protected file...i tried in resco as well however it wouldn't let me do it...jus had a thought now that perhaps the gps was running at the time the file may have been locked...anyway as a version was already there i carried on & it seems that the gps can get along without the overwrite...

jus going bak to ur prev post com4 should be the default port for gps...

On a side note, does anyone know if the A-GPS functionality works here in NZ?

A-GPS is not deployed in the Telecom NZ CDMA network.
A-GPS is configured on the BlackBerry 8830 CDMA/GSM device but not enabled.

Note there is also an OKTA Boss update available as well - a general maintenance release - not a WM6.1 upgrade.

Used it properly for the first time this weekend.
Im using AstroGPSLauncher, which with tomtom doesnt work. I have to open iGo (with astrogpslauncher), then once that locks, close it and open tomtom (since i prefer it). It seems to be out by 20m, which is visible in iGo because a dot shows your exact location according to gps, which was 20m to the right of the road. It loses signal every now and then, and is a massive drain on the battery.  If you press the power button to make it go into 'standby' then 'device.exe' will crash and gps stops working.

But it worked, and it could be used to navigate somewhere, even if it takes a few minutes to lock (even locked at 100k sitting on the dash). After this it holds signal fairly well.

Note that HTC don't support GPS on the OKTA Touch, so there's various ways to make GPS crash on the device :)

Move on up to Telecom NZ WCDMA & GPS.

Ugh. After a while of using WM6.1 on my Touch, the darned thing no longer boots. Just get solid call and end lights, and no screen. Plug the thing into a PC, and Windows detects it as an "HTC Modem". Take out battery for about 10 minutes, then it will boot, but none of the hard buttons work (it even ignores the arcane hard reset combo). Telecom store responds "been more than a year - it'll cost you about $200 to fix" (consumer guarantees act "must last a reasonable period of time" be damned).

Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to WM6.1.

6.1 is fine. Your phone is faulty. Take it to a telecom store and stick by the consumer guarantees act, in fact take a copy with that clause highlighted.

Damager:
fillup: Yes.

I've since installed GPS viewer, which finds the GPS on com4, and tries to lock onto satellite, but fails. Have left it trying for an hour without a single lock.

I have a Telecom HTC Titan flashed to WM6.1 with GPS.

I also use GPS Viewer to prime my GPS and it works a treat. I dont know too much about the Okta/HTC Touch though. Have you tried different locations when looking for sats?

Hopefully you do get it going soon! Hopefully others who have flashed the official update can step in and give you a hand.

you say you have a titan flashed with the wm6.1 . is this the same upgrade as for the touch. ?
if it is not then where do i find the download for the titan . ?

Correct, the files and utilities to upgrade to WM 6.1, GPS are available from XDA Developers.

Warning:The processing upgrading can/will brick your phone, if not done correctly as per the instructions.

Look for the Titan XDA Wiki for the lowdown.

Cheers

I agree, sounds like a faulty handset. Many have upgraded to 6.1 with no problems.
