@DrNut: Not really. I should've asked though.

@zocster: I'll try tinkering with the ubertwitter settings in a while. I've turned off my data service for now though. I'll just wait til my billing period is over which I think is this week.

Do you guys get a summary of your data usage in your monthly bill? Would it be possible to request a summary of my data usage for this month just so I can pinpoint what's eating up my data so much?

I'd say they won't be able to supply an itemized view of the data but not sure how they work it, as it is different provider to provider. a GPRS monitor program would be good but can't seem to find anything upwards of 4.5.

I suggest you upgrade your phone OS as well. updated browser for bugs which makes it easier for malicious parties to execute "phishing" attacks on unsuspecting smartphone users, has been addressed via handheld software updates from RIM.

Latest 4.6.0.303

I'm on vodafone and actually very rarely check my monthly bill (I tried for months to get vodafone to send me a statement in the mail but to no avail) I only occasionaly check how much data I've used.
I know vodafone are represented on this site so someone from telecom might be able to help you out on this forum.

I use Ubertwitter on my Storm with no drama.. And if you can use all the BB goodness then you are on BIS as well.

Perhaps the issue is with Telecom somewhere, deep in the depths of the dreaded "system"!

I rang Telecom again and asked if I could have an itemized list of my data usage. The CSR told me she'd send it the next day but then she rang me again and said they couldn't provide that information after all. She did say she had a technician check my account and that the data results are accurate at 540mb. So I guess I'll just have to watch my data usage next month.

Does it matter what browser you use? I'm currently using "Internet browser" and not Tworld. What browser do you guys use?

just the native browser is fine, make sure you update your OS though to the latest as above as it fixes the bugs that came with the earlier OS.

I just found out that I can't update my OS with a Mac.Cry Oh well, I think OS 5.0 is set to come out anytime soon so I guess I'll just wait for the officiai release before I upgrade it with my flatmate's PC. Thanks for the tip.

As for my monthly bill, I got charged about $69 on top of my regular monthly cost for the excess in data usage. I'll see how it goes this month.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

1st) Desktop Manager is released for Mac, head over to Crackberry for links and reviews, and you can now update straight from RIM's website as well.

2nd) Dont wait for next month, get a useage printout from telecom, and demand to know when, and how much data was being used, and if the correct APN is being used.

It really sounds like a stuff up on their end if all your usage reports are correct.

I've downloaded the DM for Mac but as of now, it's unable to update the OS as what other members of Crackberry have said.

Speaking of APNs, should I enable the APN setting in the TCP/IP section or just leave it unchecked?
