Never had it work in Christchurch.

How do you know if your map data is out-of-date?

HTPC: Antec Fusion 430, Intel i3, Gigabyte 1050, Corsair 4x1Gb, Hauppauge WinTv, Logitech z-5500, Logitech Harmony 525, Yamaha Rx-v6a, Samsung KS8000 4k, Windows 10, Mediaportal 1.30, BLU-RAY: Panasonic UB820

I have the latest veriosn of Ovi maps and the latest maps for New Zealand but still unable to get the speed limit warning to work. I am using a 5800.

Any more tips out there on what I might need to do to get this to work?

An update.

It seems that the speed limit warnings are not available everywhere. Tried it on the Southern Motorway in Auckland and it works but not on State Highway 1 south of the Motorway.

When the speed limit option is available the speed window or box is coloured green when below the limit and red above the limit but when the speed limit option isn't available the speed window is black or gray.

I'm in Auckland and it only seems to work on the motorways.

We drove South over the bridge and a green background appears behind the speed display which goes red if you go over 80 and after a moment the nice english lady tells you you're speeding.
Through spaghetti junction onto SH16. My wife sped up to 100 and straight away we got a warning. We were going huh?? My wife was muttering about "Your stupid phone..."

Then we go to the 100kph signs which are actually some way along the motorway and INSTANTLY, to the metre, the display went back green.

Interesting. Does the 100kph zone really start there?

Also interestingly the on screen display wanted us to take the A exit off SH1 not the B, which would have taken us onto the port.

I get a road speed sign icon (eg. "100" in black on white inner circle, red outer ring), displaying intermittently on Wellington motorways, but never on local streets. Don't recall any verbal warnings but it is a while since I used it locally.

It's only on major highways/motorways in our larger cities. for the time being.

Yes thats why I kept using my Tomtom. Its the 50km/h roads where they get you, rarely the motorways

I turned it off on my Tom Tom, I got sick of all the false alarms where they had the wrong speed limits loaded on the open roads.

Yes the map updates are not always the best. However, if its a regular point on my journey I can usually fix it myself, at least. And with 90 points on my license (at the time I got it) I was not going to take any chances.

@n4: Often the latest version of Ovi Maps goes into public beta before it's released. This can be found at http://betalabs.nokia.com/ where the latest version (3.04) recently graduated to a full release. If the next version goes through public beta as well there is a section devoted to feature suggestions which is where you could submit your ideas.

I see the Ovi maps now has the speed limits on the main state highways now, not just some sections of motorway as in the past. This includes the speed limits in residential areas so long as that road is the state highway. Note this is not all state highways just the major ones.

Still a few gaps though, e.g. SH1 south of Cambridge it ends. Also, still no speed cameras.
