No longer am I annoyed by the launch.  I am really bloody confused by it instead!

So far, this is what I'm to understand:

* On launch day, Vodafone launches the HTC Trophy. This is certainty. Cool.
* On November 8th, Gen-i launches the LG Optimus for Corporate customers on XT. Certainty again.
* After asking Telecom (via Twitter) when us plebs get WP7, Microsoft replies to say November 8th.
* After replying to Microsoft (via Twitter) asking what phone, Telecom replies to say the LG Optimus, sometime after the corporate customers.
* After replying to Telecom (again via Twitter) asking what the heck is the story, I get no response.

So from what I've seen, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand or even left foot are doing!  I'd just like some CLARITY!  Should I give up and buy an Android device in frustration?  (Because I sure won't be buying Nokia again - too crash-prone)

And Windows 7 won't be crash prone?  I have a Windows Mobile phone that I use for work, it's not the most stable platform out there.  They can all have their issues, many times it's the third party software that causes problems.

I'm certainly hoping it wont be.  Bear in mind that Windows Phone 7 bears almost no resemblance to Windows Mobile 6 - so in that sense it's a fresh start.  And hopefully buggy third party software won't be am issue on WP7 - the software undergoes rigorous testing before users can even think of installing it.

yep will work both on Telecom and Vodafone (2100mHz only).

but only t-mobil is getting it in USA in Novembor so it will prob be locked anyway. rumors are that it will be released in Europe before the end of this year.

Please, please, please do not recommend 2100MHz only handsets for Telecom XT. The experience will be bad, and people will then complain about the network, when they should not even use it to start with.

Dell Venue pro supports both UMTS 850mHz and UMTS 2100mHz. I should have prob made my post a bit clear that on vodafone only 2100mHz band will be supported.

Interesting, because if they're on T-Mobile it'd be 1900/2100MHz to start...

Dell Venue supports all three UMTS bands. 850mHz, 1900mHz and 2100mHz. Very interesting device.

Dell's track history of mobile devices is abysmal.  Expect discounted prices (eventually coz no one buys them) but nothing more.  Stick with known and trusted mobile OEMs for new software platforms is my recommendation.

Yep, unlike WP7, WM was based on Pocket PC designed for PDAs, which was based Windows CE designed for embedded devices.  Windows CE was first released back 1996.  So WP7 is fresh, but not sure how fresh coz it is based on Zune OS that was first used in Zune music devices, not phones.

So the logical question then would be how stable are Zune devices?  I don't actually know anyone that has one to ask...

I've never heard bad things about them (except the horrible colour and naming a feature "squirting") but sadly they've never been available in NZ.  Pretty much doomed to failure on the NZ market then eh?

Just a note on the 2100 band from XT, i use it in Auckland quite happily, and the building issue is not bad enough for me to use my slower Vodafone SIM until I go out of town. If you are only after one handset then definitely it won't be ideal. But until Vodafone can pick up their speeds I'm happy to swap sims between devices.
