I am getting so sick of Vodafone launches and was really looking forward to a Windows Phone 7 device on my network of choice (Telecom) only to see that Vodafone is the "Premier Launch Partner" and it will initially not be available on Telecom.

What bollocks.  Thanks Microsoft, you fail again.

I honestly don't care who gets it but what's with the NZ launch line up?

hTC Trophy 7? seriously 8GB?
Telecom is getting HD7.

I wanted samsung and LG in the mix too for NZ launch.

Do whatever you want to do man.

ERrr... You ARE over-reacted.. It is coming to Telecom XT had you check/read around a bit. It was on Twitter as well.

Vodafone NZ will be Microsoft premier launch partner - meaning starting with them (HTC 7 Trophy), and Telecom XT will follow later with HTC HD7 and LG Optimus

A somewhat pathetic launch line-up...

I will hold off upgrade until Telecom release HTC HD7.
For me, that means limping along with my semi broken HTC Magic.

Overreaction... The "launch partner" thing was a Microsoft release. I just received a Telecom announcement that LG will be launching Windows Phone 7 handsets as well - about to post it to the frontpage.

Either way, not a Vodafone problem, I think.

I reckon! I think this topic should be locked and/or hide as it doesn't serve any real purpose.

Hardly over-reacting - if I have to watch my Nokia E75 reboot in the middle of one more phone call, or wake up to find it has drained its battery while plugged into the charger one more time...

And I note they don't say *when* the HD7 comes to Telecom. Either way, I think that this "premier launch partner" stuff is blasted ridiculous. If the hardware exists, just blasted release it. Looking at you too, Apple.

(Just saw your last note, I shall watch the front page with interest!)

Samsung Omnia 7. Telecom or Vodafone. Someone please bring this to NZ before clove.co.uk starts a pre-order for it.

Omnia 7 is VFNZ by the looks - 3G band 900

(Yeah, go ahead and lock this thread if you want. The news that it may actually be available to me is welcome indeed)

Telecom is going to be selling the HD7 apparently, design looks better than the Trophy to me (thin top bezel), more square case style also the HD7 is 4.3" vs 3.8" for the Trohpy.

http://www.htc.com/www/product/hd7/specification.html

http://www.htc.com/www/product/7trophy/specification.html

The specs say HSPDA 900/2100 for both but I assume there will be an 850/2100 version.

Spec's also mention 16GB storage for Asia for the HD7, not sure what the final model Telecom get will get, should be interesting.

I think the press release is just confusing. I think many people will be confused with the windows phone, because they will expect that it will be like the iphone, and will be a 'microsoft'/ windows branded/manufacturered  phone, when instead it will only be the operating system that is windows. This is unlike the iphone which is solely an apple product, and ios is not available on any other handset manufactured phones.

I talked to the PR people, who clarified what "launch partner" means.

Yes, Vodafone is a "launch partner" because on Day One you will only find the HTC model on Vodafone, at the price already publicised.

Then later they sent another press release with almost exactly same words, except the last few pargraphs saying the LG 7Q will be available later in November from Telecom New Zealand, pre orders being accepted now.

Why didn't they send a single press release, after all this is a single platform? Obviously because neither Vodafone or Telecom wanted to be in the same "page".

Politics, mobile operators, spoiling for us, etc...

Who are you to say he's overeating? If he's annoyed he can't get it on his network on launch day then that's his right. The snobbery and 'I'm always right and you're wrong' on this forum is unbelievable.

I see Paul has just updated his blog post (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/paulspain/7428), noting that apparently, after the press release was announced, HTC have since removed the reference to TelecomNZ having the HD7??!!  Wonder what that means?!
