The Nokia E7 will be available through Vodafone (not locked, I'm using a 2degrees SIM) for $1,299.

The screen is really good and easy to read even under the sun. Quite good response to touch, although a bit slow sometimes when multiple applications are running.

Connected to my Exchange account via Mail for Exchange. This is limited to one Exchange acount only. Downloaded the usual suspects (Google Maps, Foursquare), quite quickly through Ovi.

Well manufctured, seems quite robust. SIM card is introduced through a slot on the side - is there no way to access the battery?

The QWERTY keyboard is nice, but sliding the tilting screen is a bit awkward. It might just be I need to find the right way of doing it.

I will use it tomorrow during the day to keep on top of things, let's see how long the battery lasts.

Hi Mauricio,

The battery is non user replaceable. I've found the smoothest way to access the keyboard is to press down and forward on the bottom of the screen when in landscape.

Actually the keyboard is really easy to open by just slightly lifting it from side opposite to the hinge. The spring action will do the rest...

I got an E7 last week, its was a Nokia Developer's gift, here is what i think of the phone:

Pros:
1) big, fast-response screen (4 inch AMOLED)
2) Hardware Querty keypad
3) Symbian ^3 (also con) just faster than Symbian s60 3rd (nokia 5800XM etc)
4) Solid phone build

Cons:
1) Battery cannot be taken off......., this is quite unusual for nokia, not the previous models I have seen in the last decade....
2) Symbian ^3, the number of software you can download from ovi store is much less than android or apple stores....

I dont know about the $1299 price tag though.... but its definitely worth buying as a business phone as
with big screen and full hardware keypad, good GPS with ovi map directions etc

my 2c

cheers

Hi iistudio,

Thanks for your detailed breakdown of your thoughts on the device. I'm interested most in your comment about apps. While the Ovi Store doesn't have as many apps as Android Market or App Store, were you able to find the same or equivalent key apps on the Ovi Store for day-to-day use?

Steve Lichfield of All About Symbian compiled quite a good list of common or equivalent apps across the Ovi Store and the App Store which is worth a read if you weren't able to find some of the ones you're looking for.

Based on no subsidy retail prices I've seen overseas that's about 25% more than I would have expect it to retail for here.  Aren't Vodafone gouging the price a bit?

The E7 is Pentaband like the N8. It will work on Telecom without an issue.
