I tried this and I managed to get it to find the NoDo update. It got to step 8 and then stopped, it said I wasn't allowed to use or turn off the phone so I left it for around 2 hours and nothing happened. then the phone restarted and came up with the connect to computer screen however the arrow had a red circle and line going through it. Zune then came up with the C101002e error. I can't restore it, hard resetting says it works but doesn't and taking the battery out and putting it back in just brings me back to the same screen. Bricked?

Was it full before the update? Do you have enough disk space on your PC to create the backup (at least the number of GB on your device)?

Try this:

1. If backup process is in apparently prolonged state (exceeding the general 30-40 min) with no movement of progress (including stuck at 99/100%)
2. Disconnect the device from the PC
3. Pull the battery and wait five minutes
4. Replace battery and power on
5. Device should reboot into the OS Kernel

I have a good 100gb left on my C: drive and 800gb on my other drive so that shouldn't be a problem. Just tried that solution and its still bringing me back to the connect your device to your computer screen.
Thanks for your help, I suppose I'll just take it back to vodafone and state a software problem.

If you connect it back to Zune it should reset the device to its previous state.

1. Remove the battery
2. Plug the USB Charger
3. Insert the battery
back
4. Turn on.

freitasm: Actually it will work for any operator that have authorised the upgrade. I have my Vodafone-branded HTC Trophy and my Telecom-branded LG 7 both updated today. I've also seen reports from friends in USA and EU that have managed to get their devices updated.

It's a question of timing, you have to try a few times.

AT&T is still in the testing phase according to MS WP7 update page and will be out of testing in early april so jailbreak is neccessary for AT&T wp7 phones at this stage to get the NODO.

I should have bought the Rogers Samsung focus device. They have allowed the update on their version much quicker than AT&T and MS has already deployed it on their servers.

Tried to unlock/jailbreak the phone...

Well I've done emailing the cert to device and installed. But when plugged in, screen on Start Screen/unlock, Zune's running and ran Chevron7.exe but kept getting error like it's not seeing it! Tried with MSE turned off and still the case..

:-( What DID I do wrong?

have you already installed NODO? If so, jailbreak will not work anymore.

Umm I'm trying to do this so I can get NoDo update.

I think the cert mucked up my phone... Now Zune can't detect it, which could explain Chevron7.exe not seeing it!

Why you want to do that? You don't need anything, just follow th post about disconnecting from the network, that is all.

I thought you need to jailbreak to get it??? All other example said you either have developer unlock or chevron unlock?

only needed for carriers like AT&T who are still in the testing phase of the NODO update to debrand the phone so zune thinks it's an unbranded device and to go ahead with the update.

Pretty much, AT&T phones are the only that needed jailbreak.

anyways, re-install certificate, run zune, open chevron.exe and tick both boxes and see if that works.
