Pretty much every Nokia employee's computer would be a business PC and as each and every of us use Ovi Suite if there was a widespread problem I'm sure it would be picked up. My computer is such and I have no issues.

Hmmmm, so I wonder what it is that is giving me such a drama? Maybe I'll be patient and wait for the Jan update...

Do you use them with Exhange servers?

I have a Windows 7 PC which sync with an Exchange server via Outlook (contacts, calendar, email and notes) and an XP machine which logs in via a Domain. Others I work with have Windows 7 logged in on the domain as well and use Ovi Suite.

I think I need to clarify, OVI without the phone connected works fine, it plays up when the N8 is connected, I believe (as per the previous dialogue) that OVI is presenting the symptoms, but it is the N8 that is the cause, hopefully this will be addressed in the Jan update.

ps. yes, I do accept that I am an exceptionally demanding user of smart phones, we have 6 in the house (4 for me and 2 for my wife), so I see what I like in all of them, but equally am frustrated when one of them doesn't cut the mustard as I know it can be done from using the others, especially frustrating in the Nokia instance as I have one that does what I want (E71). When I return to work in a weeks time I'll have to go back to taking my SIM out and put it back in the WM6.1 during the day and only using my N8 on weekends.

Like with anything on a computer it could be due to many conflicting issues.

This sounds like it may be a driver issue if it's only affecting the N8. If I was having the issues I would first uninstall all traces of the N8 in the Windows Device Manager and try connecting it again. If that didn't work I'd next try removing Ovi Suite (and PC Suite if installed, along with the Nokia Connectivity Drivers package if present) and trying again.

Apart from that we have a Careline which can be contacted by calling 0800 665421 (NOKIA 1). They may be able to help you with the issue.

Is anyone having trouble with the HDMI connection to their TV? When I plug the connector to the phone its pot luck if it works or not. Sometimes it connects and plays HD Video & Audio fine, sometimes it plays poor video and no audio and other times it doesn't connect at all....

I did, I had to "customise" (stanley knife) the cable I bought to fit the mini HDMI plug by shaving some of the plastic surround off, I've not had any problem when using the Nokia supplied adapter. Note, the HDMI to mini HDMI that JayCar sells is much more convenient that the one that Nokia supplies and doesn't require the above mentioned customisation.

Does anyone know if OVI runs on Windows Server 2008 R2?

Did you get the all-in-one mini-to-HDMI cable from Dick Smith? I had the same problem :-)

If you're ever having issues just make sure you're using the Nokia included adaptor or the one you are using fits all the way into the plug, as the socket on the N8 is recessed slightly. If you are using the Nokia adaptor also make sure the HDMI cable you're using fits well into the adaptor. I've had experience a cheaper HDMI cables being too loose (obviously not designed to be moved around a lot), but all other cables have been fine. I currently use one from EB Games.

Sorry, should have said, I have only ever used the adaptor that came with my Nokia and this is permanently connected to a HDMI cable. Maybe I'll try with another adaptor to see if there's a difference. Loving Nokia Big Screen though. Great interface.

Big Screen is fantastic, I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. You can download Nokia Big Sreen from Betalabs here.

I'd definitely stick with the included adaptor cable, unless you can identify for certain that it's this causing the issue as opposed to the HDMI cable being loose/not long enough when plugging into the adaptor. Have you tried a different HDMI cable?

Download has been disable due to an issue with Map application.

Does this turn the entire display into 720 or only specific data?
