Still bummed that I missed out after being so close this morning, but at least I have this as an acceptable substitute! I won it as part of the Vonage promotion, thanks to Ben Gracewood and ben.geek.co.nz!

Done, I rang their 0800 number, the guy told me I was unsuccessful straight away when I told him my order number
They sold out within seconds, and they had 'very few' to sell

Said to the guy knowing my luck i missed out by 1, he said it was a few more than 1, so first 30 secs you should be ok

LOL! Nah, the iPad is the first choice tablet for me too. The TouchPad was meant to be a cheap alternative for my daughter's christmas present. IOW, I'm still interested if one can be obtained at a reasonable price.

daskip: Acquire seemed like they had some kind of relationship with hp.... Clicking buy online on the hp site from the touchpad page took you directly to acquire... So heres hoping they had their own cache of stock

And Acquire were the crowd that handled the HP TechEd netbook deal a few years back too, obviously some connection there.

So, what are my best chances now? Slim or none?

I got confirmation at 9:32, order 147445 and was just told by Matt from Acquire that they won't be able to fulfill my order, unless some miracle happens with regards to stock.
