allan: Same problem seems to affect IM presence as well. Switching to internet.telecom.co.nz fixes this.

By the way, is anything needed in the MMS APN settings?

Yes, if you want to send/receive MMS. Check page one of this topic for settings.

Just to update, this issue still seems to be happening for myself at least.

As an aside each time I restart the phone it defaults back to Telecom NZ, not sure if there is a way to stop this.

*shrug* i'll try and not turn it off :)

Need to make sure the Network setup app is updated prior. Following are the full steps.

1. Update “Network Setup” app to 1.6.0.0 via WiFi if you cannot use WAP to download from Marketplace:
• Check the version of Network Setup from Settings->Network Setup->about
• If it’s not 1.6.0.0, then please update this application in WiFi area through Marketplace to the newest version.

2. Launch Network Setup to add one apn manually by clicking the + icon
• Connection name:                                           TNZ internet
• Check make this my current APN
• Access point name:                                         wap.telecom.co.nz
• Leave others blank
MMS APN:
o MMS access point name:                             wap.telecom.co.nz
o Proxy address:                                                  210.55.11.73
o Proxy port:                                                         8080
o MMSC address:                                               http://lsmmsc.xtra.co.nz
