http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/lumia/apac/availability/

T
elecom Available, Vodafone NZ not.

Vodafone AU were marked as available on day 1. Which is interesting.

However on the VFNZ Forums they say it was approved in the middle of June by Vodafone.

So I am confused - it has been stated it is a global rollout, staged over several weeks - understood.

The Nokia site says waiting for approval - from whom? If VFNZ is to be believed, not from Vodafone. Is it then Microsoft or Nokia?

I also fail to see why we cannot have scheduled dates for rollouts.

mattk: Mint! the update is out this morning, installed it on my TC?Lumia 800?- but still no mobile hotspot ?

What version are you now running?

It should be under Settings > Internet Sharing

I think we have a Tui moment.

Just upgraded an 800 on telecom 7.10.8773.98 and can't  see any such setting, and i do have my glasses on :)

so is telecom blocking the feature? or are these just pre update updates..... as the firmware is supposd to end in 122xx , currently ends in 12070

I just bought a Nokia Lumia 800 yesterday.  Was looking at the version and it doesn't appear to be the latest one.  I don't have an update available to me yet iva the Zune application.  A lot of mention about Vodafone and Telecom, but what about 2degrees?  Do they need to approve something too?

I'm a total noob to all this stuff.

Cool.

I heard sound quality is improved on the latest version, so I'm looking forward to that :)

your 2deg/optus image will be slightly different to the telecom one me thinks (probably the plain vanilla image or the optus one). what does your firmware version end in? 12220?

ah found it in the end. my lumia , poduct code 059N7D3 , now says on nokias website that it is waiting for approval, yet a day ago it said update available (well thats my story and im sticking to it :) )
whilst i never got an update alert on my phone ,seeing the nokia update page , made me run up zune and check for updates. Clearly my phone updated so far , but not far enough... or perhaps something got pulled at the last minute with these "rolling" updates

Anyhow, need to cool my heels a bit more :)

oh and the nokia Play to app is available for DNLA

I seriously can't believe there were so many of those sold in New Zealand that justify rolling updates here (actually not sure even worldwide, knowing that Windows Phone comes from different OEMs and not all have updates ready, which automatically creates a staggered effect)... Nothing on my device yet.

yep.  all details as follows:

os version: 7.10.8773.98
firmware revision 1750.0805.8773.12220
hardware revision 112.1402.2.3
radio software: 1.7.50.08
radio hardware: 8255
bootloader: 7.41.0.0
chip soc version: 0.74.2.1

also, as previously mentioned, i did the old 'yank the network connection' trick to get updated.  i didnt wait for the official optus delivery..  same trick that worked on the vf nz htc in the past.

What is the draw-back for not waiting for the "official" delivery?  And when you say yank the network connection, do you mean SIM card?

No drawback. The "yank the cable" is basically turning off mobile data on your device, checking for updates on Zune and after a few seconds disconnect the Internet on your PC. This will force the device to see the updates.

I don't use Mobile data on my phone (too expensive!).  If I plug my phone in, let zune look for updates, then disconnect the Wifi to my phone/computer, the update should magicaly show up?

Will try that tonight!

If Mobile Data is ON in the settings you should turn it off anyway.

Let's face it: Windows Phone 7 is dead. No more phones are coming out. It's just plain silly to keep holding back these updates now.

It is switched off.  I'll plug it in to my computer later tonight and see if I can force my phone to update.
