Technofreak:
NZ255: Something that I was looking forward to was to be able to interact with my phone via Win8 PC. eg Phone gets a text message, I have to stop an answer it - it would be cool if I got a notification on my PC and could reply using the keyboard and send the text via my phone. Yeah I guess I could use email but I think the two platforms should be tied together more.
Anyway, looking forward to installing 8.1 when it hits the dev preview.

You mean like you can do with a Symbian Nokia and Nokia Suite?  cool

...and Android with several apps, and probably iOS too...

Installing it here too. After looking over it last week when Nathan Mercer was on the NZ Tech Podcast I was quite impressed it. A welcome update.

Installed, changing some options... To whoever once said "you don't need a notification centre, live tiles do it all for you": GTFO. It's so much better with a Notification Centre.

Changed settings to get Cortana (warning, it will trigger a third update) and all works fine... Except, how can we change Cortana to show Celsius instead of Fahrenheit (if this can be done)?

Changed Region Settings to Australia, to no effect (other than dates now show correctly).

Really loving the new update with two major exceptions:

  1. Cortana not available outside the US
  2. Games now appearing in App List
(Microsoft region locking is getting old fast  (XB1 Kinnect Commands etc), and my games now junk up the list. They look out of place as they have distinctly different app squares (most of mine are XBL Games).

Notification centre makes it worthwhile though

Don't have an issue with Cortana not being available, restricting Beta's is common and sensible.
