BrentR: It's NOT locked. As I already said earlier, it works on both Vodafone and 2 Degrees other 2/3/4G bands perfectly fine, this is simply a hardware limitation on this particular handset.

Apple have always impressed me with their RF engineers abilities to squeeze such a large variety of frequency spread into their later handsets, it is quite phenomenal!

Spark have ranged this handset because it works for their network spread, not for how it may work with other local networks.

Doesn't it just come down to save $x per handset by using a cheaper "modem" that has less band(s) supported in variant X.

Spark wouldn't be able to range this variant if Microsoft didn't offer it.

Apple learnt from the iphone 3g that having variant X not working on network Y is bad long term marketing. People move countries and Networks all the time, I wish Microsoft, Samsung, HTC and Google would stop caving to carriers.

yeah hopefully, and a little more colour selection would be nice, however it does seem to be a trend that they start off with black then later move on to the colour variants

Except HN won't be stocking it, so they tell me.. and I am happy to have black... but giving others the option of having a coloured one from the start would be good.
Though someone could easily replace the back with another cover or the wireless charging flip case

Anyone seen any good deals on replacement back covers for the 830? The Flip Shell Cover (CP-627) looks pretty cool in green and would be a good way to liven up the black on black of the Spark 830

Where are you? Dunedin's Spark store had one to play with. JBHifi are also selling them now. My partner got me one for Xmas, pity its put away until then.
