billgates:kiwiandy: i bought mine from Mobicity and am using it on Telecom Network ok.
are you in Auckland by any chance? If so, you are connected via the XT 2100MHz 3G network which is only deployed in main centers and the 3G coverage very low.
even mobicity's Nokia lumia page states only 3G 2100MHz. Need UMTS/3G 850MHz band for a phone to work *properly* on the Telecom XT network.
I checked clove's page as well and they only list Vodafone/2degrees band on their specs page. Same with handtec.co.uk nokia lumia product page.
theRocknRolla:
Nope. Nokia's specs page says it supports all of these these:
(which includes 850 on WCDMA [3G])
Operating FrequencyOperating band
- GSM 850
- GSM 900
- GSM 1800
- GSM 1900
- WCDMA Band V (850)
- WCDMA Band I (2100)
- WCDMA Band II (1900)
- WCDMA Band VIII (900)
Mudz12: So are you saying XT works on the WCDMA Band V (850)?

ok important update!!!
It WAS working on the Telecom XT in the city (Christchurch) earlier today.....
it is NOT working on XT network at my house in rurl North Canterbury... I normally have a full strength signal on my iPhone 4 as there is a cell tower 600 meters away.
Seems that I was fooled by the specs on GSM arena into believinging this will work on XT.
I wil be listing on trademe soon :(
It must be a settings problem because the phone defos supports both XT frequencies.
http://www.nokia.co.uk/gb-en/products/phone/lumia800/specifications/ -- Under the 'hardware' tab.
Every review, and site selling it also confirm WCDMA 850 (rural XT).

What settings? you dont need to enter any APN data to get a phone signal... it was working in the city and not now... what settings could it need.
Yes the reason why I bought it is that the specs showed 3G 850Mhz....??

This is really Lame..
On all the Nokia sites they imply it has quad band 3G support and I was a pay day away from ordering one to replace my aged and tired IPhone 3G from 2008. Guess I'll be waiting until an ATT version is released, or ordering a current gen Samsung Focus from one of the importers here.
kiwiandy:
I purchased based on the specs on GSM arena which showed it has 3G 850MHZ..
Sony Xperia XA2 running Sailfish OS. https://sailfishos.org The true independent open source mobile OS
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
Dell Inspiron 14z i5

This was said before (and sorry it won't help you now): NEVER USED GSM ARENA AS A REFERENCE WHEN BUYING HANDSETS OUTSIDE THE US.
