I am sick and tired of Android and looking to moving to Windows phone, but wanted to wait for some good quality hardware.
The only think I dont like about winphone is no dual core processors yet?..and the Nokia's dont have FF cams.

Any one got any experience with the Nokia yet?

My last winmo phone was a Palm thinggy running winmo6.5.

Windows Phone is completely different from Windows Mobile. The Nokia hardware (N9) is great, so I am also looking forward to having a Lumia, which is based on same chassis...

Have only heard good thing about the Nokia Lumia 800. Telecom will be launching it in NZ in Feburary for $899 from what I have heard. Nokia Lumia 710 will go for $549. You can import the Lumia 800 from clove or handtec from UK via their website. Nokia's lumia line up comes with free offline GPS navigation with free maps for almost all the major countries around the world as well just like they provided it with the their latest and greatest symbian phones. I currently have the HTC Titan and Samsung Focus. Both are great devices but I am liking the titan more because of much better battery life and speeds over all. Will buy the Lumia officially from Telecom when it launches here and then sell both my existing Windows Phone devices.

I didnt have a good experience trying to buy a phone online from Clove.
After I ordered and gave my payment details they sent me an email asking for a drivers licence or passport showing my address. My DL has an address from 10 years ago, and NZ passports dont have your address.
When I advised them of this they gave me another option to contact my CC company and request an authourisation.. which sounded complicated.. anyway it seems they had already charged my CC as i can see it on my online cc statement but still they inisited on the authentication?.. I cancelled the order.. and tey advise it will take 7 days to process the refund??.. Im not really happy with that business model.

Anyway I have now ordered a Lumia from Mobicity in Oz... hopefully will have it early next week.
Am disappointed to read on here that WinPhone doesnt do tethering :((

Mobicity are notorious for being dodge and also for listing items that will ship from overseas warehouses and manufacturors as "In Stock". It also says on their website the buyer is reponsible for custom import charges, so if your phone is coming in from overseas expect it to be held until you pay the 20% of value tax on it (might be lower but my paintball gun stuff was charged 20% 3 years ago).

Also WinPhone can tether, it just requires the 7740 update which is currently being pushed to server, you can expect tethering for your Lumia within 2 months (it could even happen tomorrow, just giving a realistic window)

I had internet tethering on my HTC titan prior of having the 7740 update. Nokia has confirmed that Lumia will get the internet tethering soon in an update.

If you ring your bank, they will give you the authorisation code straight away. I have done this with ASB many times withput any issues. I have never had any issues with clove, handtec or mobicity but I find mobicity more expensive overall.

i had hands on the lumia 800 last night - one that was ordered from clove and arrived quicksmart. it was a really really nice phone.

personally i dont care that it (wp7) doesnt have dual core as it flies through everything and doesnt seem to need it, and i'm not so sure i need a front facing camera either. (but would prefer it had one built in anyway)

I got one a week ago, loving it so far. I ordered mine through clove.co.uk too. Insanely fast delivery.

I will be detailing my experience of migrating from an iPhone to a Lumia 800 and developing apps for my new Windows Phone on my blog (http://www.theAnushka.net) if anyone's interested.

I am definitely interested in your migration as I will be doing the same, once I can find replacements for all my key apps on Winphone.

Cool. I will remember to take plenty of screenshots from my iPhone before its sold so I can do a nice little comparison of iOS vs WP7 apps blog post. ETA 1 week or less depending on how busy I am this week.
