Ordered an 8X from mobicity for wifey. Came home from being away a couple of weeks and it had arrived - no call from customs/fedex for gst payment...

Does this normally happen, no gst to pay?

Sometimes you do sometimes you don't.

Very hit and miss, but when you shop overseas then always budget to get hit with GST etc

Ordered an 820 from Mobicity... biggest nightmare I've ever dealt with and I've done ALOT of internet orders from overseas. You are supposed to be charged GST on imports over $400 nz (including shipping costs) but Mobicity apparently lowers the declared price so you dont pay GST... not sure if that applies to all orders. Anyway, I would suggest avoiding Mobicity at all costs.

There is very much a presence within NZ.

It's great to see we have many passionate users who want to see us succeed as much as we do.

Then it's high time to pull finger... this is the most important Nokia launch in years!

I walked into Dick Smith's yesterday and cast my eyes once again over the phone section...
No Lumias, no Lumia accessories, no earbuds, no headsets, no case, no chargers (other than some obsolete non-Lumia stock from years ago) This is a year since the 800 came out in NZ and there is still effectively zero presence in NZ's main high street retailers. Yet android phones and iPhones and related accessories smother the walls. It's nuts. The same situation is in other retailers as well. It gives the appearance of a purely reactionary marketing strategy.

I sent a purity earbud to Nokia NZ for a warranty and had to wait a month to get it back... obviously because they had no such thing in NZ and had to order one in from elsewhere. The service was good, but losing my phone for the sake of an earbud for a month was seriously bad.

Just being passionate as I'm long on Nokia :)

I thought it was too small for my liking. Does it have magnet of some sort to hold it in place?

No, but a microfibre pouch in between should stop it from slipping.. it'll just be on my desk anyway

When will Noel leeming actually stock them in store? Their website has said 3-4 days for a bit now.. I'd rather go into the store & buy it..

Ex-android owners - what's your verdict? WP8 doesn't match up? About the same? Is better than android, glad you made the change?

It is a very subjective issue, I am enjoying the wp8 experience immensely, in my opinion I have traded a bit of flexibility for a more cohesive and consistent ui, I'm not sure i will go back to android, with android I was always chasing unicorns, better battery life, elusive OS updates etc etc, with wp8 it does what it does well and just let's me get on with life

Strange, went smooth for me and declared value was printed on the package at the correct value. I was waiting for customs to call, but didn't get it.

slightly off topic but I have bought several phones/tablets from Clove technologies over the last few years and have not had to pay any GST. Touch wood so far.Well over the $400 threshold
