Yeah i saw your message - i actually didnt get it from Cingular support ;) I composed a document with all the data i found on the web.. different dialing codes, usernames, and passwords and basically tried every single one of them as well as combinations. The people at Cingular have no clue.. and never gave me information that was anything close to what worked. well they had the *99***1# part right ;) but thats about it. Thanks for looking out, hope you got your report done.
I might've known you did NOT get it from Cingular. Twould take a miracle to get any real help from Cingular techs! ;-) (but I'm glad you did get it one way or the other).
I am about to throw my ipaq4155 and my v600 out the window! I have followed all of the above advice, and bought a GPRS program that was supposed to do everything automatically, and nothing is working. If anyone has figured this out, I would love to know. I did get the two devices to pair, but that is as far as I can get. I get all the connection failed problems as discussed in this thread.
Do you have Cingular as your carrier for your Motorola V600 Kevin? If so - I think I may be able to help you. I have step by step instructions (email me for them if you have Cingular - and I will email them to you). I know the feeling - but don't "give up the ghost" just yet. Someone helped me, I have helped someone else (and they worked for him also). Hopefully (if you have Cingular) we will be able to say the same about you! :-)
Yes I did Kevin. Sorry bout that. It must be other nick I DO have my email available for. I will email you the step by step instructions. Kindly to let me know if they work for you. Thanks!
I have the same config as Kevin ( a 4155/v600 w/cingular). I have not been able to get mine to work either. can you post the instructions for cingular?
Yes, I can post the step-by-step. . .here they are. Be sure to follow to the letter!
First - before anything - make sure that:
1. GPRS is working on your phone - that is to say that you are getting on line to
Web Sessions, etc. (cuz if it's not - that is the first thing that needs to be done).
Nothing will work without that.
2. On phone:
Step A:
1. Go to Settings (& select)
2. Go to Connections on menu (& select)
3 Select Bluetooth on Bluetooth Link Screen
4. Scroll down to "Device History" and Select
5. Make sure your pocket pc (whatever you have called it) - is there - and select
it
6. Make sure Access Screen says "Automatic" (which will allow your devices to
connect without more authorization, etc.). This can be changed later, I suppose
if you like.
Step B.
1. Go back to Bluetooth Link Screen
2. Scroll down to "Setup" and select
3. Make sure Power is: "On"
4. Make sure Voice Dial is: "On"
Now to Pocket PC Settings:
This is what worked for me. If it does not work for you, I've done my best. But
in case these settings are right for you also - they may work:
First of all - click on "Bluetooth Manager" on Pocket PC. Then click on Tools there.
Make sure your phone shows up there (first things first!). If it does, fine and good - we are ready to roll.
Steps (I was walked thru this, step by step). From here on, do as follows (per my cut and paste job on instructions I had received).
1. go to start--> settings--> connections--> add a new modem connection
2. Enter a name for connection (I recommend Cingular)
3. For Select a Modem: - select "Bluetooth Dialup Modem"
4. it Next once these things are done
5. Next screen will give you name of connection you made (as title). It prompts
you to enter the number exactly as it should be dialed, etc. Enter:
*99***1#
6. Hit Next
7. Next Screen:
User Name (enter): WIXDC001@W5.MYCINGULAR.COM
(***BE EXACT ABOUT THIS - WIXDCzerozeroone@etc. (upper case) -
it IS case sensitive)
Password (be very careful to enter this exactly as shown - cuz it will show up as
asterisks only): ZXY203DC9K0402 (Be sure you do not dial an "O" rather than
a zero at end. . .it is: ZXY203DC9K(zero)4(zero)2)
8. Same Screen - click on advanced. In window for: "Extra dial-string modem
commands, enter: +CGDCONT=1,"IP","isp.cingular"
(Again - you must be EXACT. It goes without saying).
9. Hit "Finish". It will take you back to "Bluetooth Settings" Screen.
Get out of all that now. Now go to "Internet Explorer" and try to use. It should connect
you. Be sure phone is on (and that you have gone thru all the settings being right).
If it connects, it will let you know. There are a couple of ways to check that it's connected (on pocket pc). But forget about those for this round. Just look at phone screen. When it's connected it should say "GPRS Activated".
Interesting that the instructions I wrote worked perfectly for me - and my pocket pc (h1945 is connecting perfectly now with Cingular and h1945 and Motorola V600) with things exactly the way I listed them.
At any rate, it's fascinating to see that Cingular has actual written instructions. Who would have thought? NO ONE at Cingular was able to help me AT ALL. If it had not been for someone who gave me assistance in another forum on this - I would still not be connected.
Thanks for interesting link to interesting document! :-)
This seems to be the place for my question, although a little different...
Anyway, I have free PPP account with the university and have a D-Link Bluetooth USB adapater and a Motorola V600. I have it "semi" working, in that I can send/recieve audio/movie/pictures from the phone to my laptop, and I'm having similar issues with the dial-up just disconnecting after dialing. Since I'm using a laptop and my own ISP for dial-up, any ideas on what I should do?

Thanks for posting your Cingular iPAQ settings. I had been trying for several days with no success. I have a Motorola V400 with a Motorola DC600 bluetooth add on, and a iPAQ 2215. Entering your settings makes it work! From what I've read the DC600 makes for a slower connection, but it does work.
Thanks again.
Hello, I am having the same problem as this user mentioned in the previous post. I have a Motorola T731 and DC600. I am trying to connect it to my laptop and dial out to a ISP using DUN. I can get the phone to dial out, but it hangs up right away. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.
