billgates: Get either the Lumia 720 or Lumia 620 (available at Noel Leeming)

I noticed on another thread that some of Noel Leeming's phones are parallel imported. Does this mean they wouldn't have the maps for NZ installed under "Here Drive"? If not, can you download the maps for NZ and use them offline?

vaiohk: If you like to install app for your phone, I suggest the Nokia as it has the bigger storage, currently you can install the app in the phone storage only unlike Android.

The 720 also got a Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic which have a better voice quality

Also you better have a look the battery size as well as the 720 got a non-removable 2000mAh and the W1 got a removable 1950mAh battery.

With the Ascend, I can only install apps to the Internal 4GB Flash, not the 32GB Memory Card?
If so, that is certainly a limitation that I didn't know about.

I noticed the active noise cancellation on the Lumia, but wasn't sure how much difference it would make in practice. From what you are saying, it could be significant.

Finally, I didn't realise that the Ascend has a removeable battery, but now I see it in the User Manual. Definitely something to think about, and thanks again for pointing it out.

Yes you can only install apps up to the limit of the phone storage currently(hope microsoft will get an update on install app in SD soon), because the system used 1.55GB from the 4GB internal storage. So you are getting around 2GB for apps and others.

Nokia Lumia 620 actually comes with Here Drive + so you get license for 100+ countries. This is the model available from Noel Leeming for $350 or from a parallel importer like expansys.co.nz fo NZ$300 incl courier. So yes on this model you can download the NZ, Australia and boat loads of other countries maps and use it offline with full voice guided turn by turn directions.

Nokia Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 come with single license of Here Drive for a country whose SIM card you insert into the device for the first time. Later on Nokia will let you upgrade to Here Drive + for these 2 handsets for a minimal fees.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I have ordered from Expansys in Hong Kong before and found the service good with prompt delivery times. For some reason they offer Lumia 720 in Red, White or Yellow at a cheaper price than Black or Cyan:

NZ$382 is a good price, but I would prefer to buy local if the difference is not too great.

- Would there be any issues with OTA updates on a phone from Expansys compared with a phone purchased from Vodafone?

- Would a phone purchased from Vodafone work OK on 2 degrees or would it need to be unlocked first?
